Rafael Vergara Navarro (born name, 13 January 1948-2022)[1] was a renowned Colombian lawyer,[2] and environmentalist.[3]

Vergara was born in Cartagena, Colombia.[4] He studied Law at Universidad Externado de Colombia,[5] graduating in 1972,[6] and later would work at Superintendencia Bancaria.[7]

Vergara held revolutionary beliefs, according to El Universal.[8]

Vergara was the founder of the international branch of M19.[9]

Vergara obtained Asylum in México un 1979.[10]

Vergara has defended mangroves.[11]

Vergara opposed the invasion of vacant State lots.[12]

Vergara has four children.[13]

Vergara had an inclination towards journalism.[14]
