Collier Motors is an American Motors dealership in Pikeville, North Carolina. It is marginally noteworthy on the extreme trivia fringe as apparantly being the last existing dealership for that company, which went out of business in 1987.

History

Apparantly, the dealership is owned by Robert Collier, who is the latest of his family to sell American Motors cars. If the source of the previous link is right, and the Colliers did disassociate themselves from AMC after Renault bought part of the company, Collier Motors has been untethered since 1982. The last proof the dealership is still in business comes from 2002, meaning that it has lasted twenty years without support.

Logic

The line of logic that would keep such a dealership in business is hard to fathom, which is probably why there is only one left. Since Chrysler bought what was left of AMC after it spun off AM General to General Motors, it might seem that Collier would go to Chrysler products although, for reasons of his own, he has not. The dealership still sells cars and parts - although, as the picture shows, it is no longer exclusive to AMC - note the Lincoln and what appears to be a Dodge Omni parked in the foreground.
