The Guide Mayer, The Art Auctions Dictionary was first published in 1962 by Enrique Mayer, then every year, listing a selection of international art auctions results as a dictionary for both fine art amateurs and collectors as well as art market professionals like galleries and auctioneers.

1986 was the last edition by Enrique Mayer who sold the name to Acatos Editions in Lausanne, which published the book until 2001.

The Luxembourg-based group Artvalue bought the name and rights in 2002 and published the last 3 editions : 2002-2003, 2004 and 2005.

After the 2005 book, Artvalue stopped the print and set Artvalue.com, a free access website listing 2.5 millions of art and antiques auctions results.
