MomoCon

MomoCon is the free admission, multi-genre convention put on by Anime O-Tekku every year in March. The convention encompasses Anime, Video Gaming, LARP, webcomics, Comics, costuming, card games, board games, and prop armor construction. The convention is held in Atlanta, Georgia at Georgia Tech.

MomoCon 2005 was held on March 26-27 and had over 700 attendees (a hard number is not available because the convention was free). The convention welcomed over 30 guests and many special demo teams, as well as had several special events and feature movies. An article on the anime club and the convention was featured in the February 2005 issue of Newtype USA, and professionally-made commercials were seen around Georgia Tech campus, as well as before on-campus movies.

MomoCon 2006 is set to be held on March 18-19, 2006, and currently has over 15 guests set to attend, including Studio Creations, makers of Storm Trooper armor, and representatives from the 501st. The key events for 2006 include a Tsukimi festival with kimono-clad waitstaff, a Gaming Decathalon, a Pocky Stop cafe, and a special martial arts demonstration from a local dojo.

MomoCon is semi-unique in the fact that the convention was put on initially with a zero-budget (no starting capital), and there is no entry fee to cover the costs for the next year.
