Thanks for uploading File:A36 into salisbury.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 11:10, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inserting Images

Hi Loulou,

I see you've worked out how to insert images, but as you might have noticed on your talk page, there are some additional details to add. Images on Wikipedia have to have a license of some sort attached to it, explaining who owns the image, where it came from, and whether it can be used in other media. I only ever upload my own pics as it's much easier to work out the licensing (I authorise them for free and open use (Public Domain)) but there are other levels. Best place to check them is probably Wikipedia:Image use policy, not the greatest read, but fairly easy to follow.

Looking through the images you've uploaded, I suspect (but admittedly not sure) that you may be all right with the File:A36 into salisbury.jpg as it seems to be from a site that allows public domain use. On the other hand you may have a problem with Salisb.jpg, as it came from a Turkish(?) site it's harder to gauge its terms of use (unless you speak Turkish and understand it!). Same with File:Guildhall.jpg which may be owned by Salisbury District Council or Wiltshire Coucil and may require permission. Either way, the terms of use need to be attached to each image otherwise Wikipedia Administrators may delete the images lest they don't conform to Wiki rules (and the onus is on the uploader to provide the info, not the admin).

When inserting a picture into an article, it's best to use a size consistent with the rest of the article. The A36 image was much larger than the images in the rest of the Salisbury article which is why I reverted it to thumb size. In the main it seems that thumb is the best size for an image in the main body of the article, and 300px is good for articles at the start or in the infobox.

This leads me on to my main reason for posting to you. Looking through the edit history of Salisbury a minute ago I noticed that I'd inadvertently slashed into some of your contributions mere minutes after you'd uploaded them. I've made a number of edits to the page today (it really is in need of some work as you've probably noticed) and I apologise for appearing to 'screen' your work. I'd actually just started going through the article this morning when I saw that bit and decided to clean it up first. Without wishing to appear patronising, Wiki aims to avoid PoV text. So (although I agree with you) lines like "the city is not up to scratch anymore, i.e. the bad roads and the traffic buildup on the bad roads" and "They take you the most scenic or practical route around the city for an improved flow of cars or to help local businesses" don't really fit unless someone important enough has said it (plus you slightly contradicted yourself in that paragraph!).

I notice you seem to have an interest in Salisbury, as I do, so I'd be happy to work together to improve the article. The history section is in desperate need of attention and so is the government section I've just started. Most important thing is to provide references to any potentially controversial statement we include. I'd be happy to help you out with any other issues or queries you might have.
