Shoaib Hashmi is a veteran playwright[1], actor and professor from Pakistan.

Family life and education

Hashmi did his MA in Economics from Government College (now Government College University), Lahore and his MSC from London School of Economics (LSE), London.[2] He also studied theater at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London.[2]

Hashmi is married to Salima Hashmi, the daughter of noted Pakistani poet, Faiz Ahmed Faiz. The couple have two children.

Career

Hashmi taught economics for many years[2] at Government College (now Government College University), Lahore.

He wrote the following tv serials for Pakistan Television (PTV) which aired before 1990.

  • Tall Matol
  • Balila - banned soon after it aired.[1]
