Sofiya Kalistratova

Sofia Kallistratova, (Sofia Vasilievna), 1907-1989, public defensor in Russia durind the Soviet period. Defended various soviet dissidents. In particulat, participated in the "Helsinki group" http://www.mhg.ru/english http://www.yale.edu/annals/sakharov/documents_frames/Sakharov_159.htm distributing information about violations of Law in Soviet Union. Many times suffered the deep searcn by KGB in her flat and conficcation of typewriters and documents. All her work on the refence of the right of the human to get, discuss and distribute the information was legal. As many other defendoes of human rights, she was accused in the anti-soviet activity, but the case was stopped by the absence of any cryminal element in her activity.
