First of all, it's just more personal. I'm involved in every aspect of the writing. As far as the direction of the music, it's very different. [43]

His former High School Musical co-stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are both coming out with movies this summer, but Corbin Bleu is keeping a lower profile while honing his acting talent all the same, he can currently be seen on Broadway eight times a week in the musical In the Heights.

He’s been performing in the show since February to good reviews and recently extended his run for the second time, agreeing to play the lead role of Usnavi until mid-August.

And in fact, right after he departs, Jordin Sparks is scheduled to join the cast. [50]

Just last week, fellow Disney star Demi Lovato caught a performance and was photographed with Bleu after the show. [51]

The X Factor

The lineup for Fox’s X Factor is nearly complete: EW has learned High School Musical actor-singer Corbin Bleu is close to joining the competition series as co-host, alongside previously reported co-host finalist, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger. [52]

Sources emphasize that neither Bleu or Scherzinger are locked in, but both are close to signing on with the series. Meanwhile, time is getting short: X Factor must have its full judging and hosting team in place by May 8 — that’s when the production begins shooting the audition rounds before the judges.

As for the rest of the team, we’re still hearing the same names as the finish line approaches that have been previously reported: L.A. Reid (who is confirmed), along with Cheryl Cole and Paula Abdul, joining Simon Cowell.

Bleu has a slew of credits with Disney productions, and last year appeared on an episode of The Good Wife. Scherzinger was a guest judge on the UK edition of X Factor and has judged NBC’s The Sing Off. [52]
