Mountain Climbing Accident - no mention??

Why did this page not mention what is probably the defining moment of his life - the mountain climbing accident that crushed his skull and face? Makes the Coe feud look like trivia... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.143.166.160 (talk) 23:25, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's mentioned... Very clearly his evolving style caused him to fall off a mountain cliff: Here's what the article currently states, "Williams began his career imitating his famed father and his style gradually evolved until he was involved in a near fatal fall off the side of a mountain." Yes. You read that correctly, "his style gradually evolved until he was involved in a near fatal fall." It's a cause-and-effect relationship. His style caused him to fall. I so enjoy reading wikipedia! Makes me glad Brenda ran me off! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.37.244.76 (talk) 23:58, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Better now? If not have a go at fixing it. --Georgia peach lover (talk) 11:23, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't include any references. See? I can be just like everyone else on wikipedia and tell YOU what YOU did wrong! Thanks for the laughs! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.37.244.76 (talk) 17:48, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Feud with David Allan Coe

Come on ya'll, no mention of his fued with David Allan Coe and how Coe accused Hank, Jr. of selling out and not upholding his fathers "Family Tradition"?

What fued with DAC? I've always heard that they were good friends. I think you need to re-check what you are saying. Alakey2010 Thursday, May 04, 2006 4:34 PM.
I've never heard of any feud with Coe either. I've always heard that they've been pretty good friends. If I'm not mistaken, Coe wrote and recorded a sort of tribute song to Hank called "Hank Williams Jr. Junior." One of the songs most memorable lines involves Coe not calling "Hank Williams Jr. Junior anymore" signaling that he respected Hank, his music, and his musical direction.Odin's Beard 00:00, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty sure that that is referring to Hank Williams, Jr's son Hank Williams III who did an album with David Allan Coe.
About the song, considering it has the words "Ten years later young Bocephus busted through the door, and I just can`t call Hank Williams Jr Jr anymore" with that I assumed it was Hank Jr and not Hank III as Bocephus is Hank Jr's name. DAC is obviously talking about Hank, Jr. here because of the Bocephus reference. The reference to ten years later is referring to the fact that Hank Jr. had met Elvis when he (Hank Jr.) was just a kid. The reference to "busting through the door" is simply saying that Bocephus was finally making a name for himself that put him on par with someone like Elvis, and given that it's hard to call someone "junior" as a mild jab or pejorative anymore. In other words he has earned DAC's respect. The song also makes the point that Bocephus is now almost 6 foot 4 inches tall and 200 pounds, so it's hard to call someone that big junior as well. --Georgia peach lover (talk) 06:33, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Early Life & Career?

It says "and that his identical to those of Hank Williams" can someone tell me what that means in english?

It says after "some success" in the 1980s. This is a gross understatement. Hank Williams Jr. sold millions of albums and won scores of industry awards in the 1980s. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.160.217.121 (talk) 15:42, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RIAA reference failure

The reference links are all the same - when the RIAA webpage has to post data to query its database (which is not included in the link) a hyperlink is not useful. This should be fixed. I would fix it, but I'm not sure what should be done. Link all to the RIAA search page?

MrHungryMonkey 04:47, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, I'm not exactly sure what can be done about it either. I went to the searchable database on the RIAA website a little while ago and all the listings various RIAA certifications are accurate. Aside from possible fan websites, which can often be unreliable due to personal bias, I don't know where else his listings of RIAA certifications can be found.Odin's Beard 23:40, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1980s Young Country

Just thought it would be interesting to mention a couple of his colaborations with the New Country crowd between his peak in the 80's and the new generation of country artists that are refered to ... when he recorded with many of them such as Highway 101, Marty Stuart, Keith Whitley, Steve Earl .. on "Young Country".

Mind you, it was not long after that "If the South Would a Won" came out and I was working in Country Radio at the time at a major station in Canada, mind you, that was not apt to play it, I'm sure that was near the beginning of his slide for a while and wonder if that was a coincidence? Just wondering if there's any facts on that or research worth metioning.

Superstar?

The use of this seems non-NPOV, not to mention that this is the only place I have seen Hank Williams Jr described as such. Buster 20:54, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have a link here that states that Hank Williams Jr. sang the Canyonero song on The Simpsons Episode: The Last Temptation of Krust-please verify this: http://www.snpp.com/episodes/5F10 Silent 9:28, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Looked like somebody went off on a rant...

The timeline section midway down reverted to a first person rant, involving accusations of racism and "not being a true christian" Not exactly what belongs in an encyclopedia. I just deleted the entire offending section. Personal views don't have any place in the encyclopedia. If the material is reinserted please edit it to be more objective and please reference your sources. We also don't want any libel (slander?) issues. Half this freaking article is a list. Doesn't anyone know how to write prose? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 02:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gun Enthusiast

Williams is an avid gun enthusiast and has a very large collection of Civil War era weapons, including a number of cannons. Perhaps something could be included in the article about this? At the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee there is an interesting 20 minute interview in which Williams talks about the collection, including funny anecdotes about him and other country music stars (apparently Johnny Cash loved shooting the cannons). It appears that he is very fond of American history, and I think this aspect of his life should be included, or at least mentioned in the article. He has made a number of important contributions to our understanding of Civil War history through his work in the field.

Personal Life?

shouldn't there be a personal life for the man? Instead of having his personal life in "Notable events"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.61.145.142 (talk) 00:41, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that he has writen articals for gum magazines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.17.124.226 (talk) 00:21, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Haha

Never thought I'd see Hank Williams Jr and the phrase "elder statesman" on the same page.Tragic romance (talk) 18:35, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Politics

I expanded on that we do not know what he meant. The comment can be interpreted many ways, so we should not speculate on a single meaning. Unfortunately as ambiguous as the comment was, people are going to assume it meant different things. But for Wikipedia to remain neutral, as it must, we should not subscribe to a single meaning until we have proof. --MahaPanta (talk) 05:18, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Case in point: "On October 3, 2011, Hank Williams made a total ass of himself and scourged his father's name by comparing then President of the United States Barack Obama to a Nazi, subsequently being pulled from his regular Monday Night Football gig."
That is unacceptable here. We do not yet know if he was comparing either person to Hitler, or just saying that he though Obama and Boehner playing golf together is as likely as Hitler and Netanyahu playing golf together. --MahaPanta (talk) 05:27, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This article needs to remain neutral and factual. The previous edit makes it sound like Obama is no longer president. Then someone added this: 'On October 4th, 2011, he made a claim that likened President Obama with Adolf Hitler. He then recanted this however, and apologized for his silly behaviour, citing that he had "kissed 2 many damb boiz this mornin'."'. Even the date is wrong, it happened on the 3rd. --MahaPanta (talk) 05:33, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
