Glenn Brown is a British artist and painter who was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2000.

There was some controversy over his entry, as one of the paintings was closely based on a science-fiction illustration, which gave rise to charges of plagiarism.

The prize was won by a photographer, Wolfgang Tillmans.

Brown's paintings are finely crafted and often comment on other paintings, copying them but with a twist, such as a Brown painting which is a version of Howard Hodgkin, who uses thick lumps of paint. From a distance Brown's version appears identical, but on closer inspection is revealed to be a trompe l'oeil flat surface, giving the illusion of a painterly surface.
