Original Source of Melody

Wasn't the tune for this song from a classical piano piece? It sounds like Chopin, but I can't quite place it. Ken Burch02:24, 14 April 2010

Divorce Connection Rumours

As someone who was a neighbour of the four at the time on the Stockholm suburb island of Lidingö I can almost categorically state that the allegation this song's lyrics had something to do with Björn and Agneta's breakup are not only anachronistic but totally false. Knowing Me Knowing You was recorded at the time of their breakup which was the first of the two breakups; Björn made it very clear this song was a collaborative effort between Agneta and himself in terms of lyrics on that breakup. Whilst Benny and Frida lasted only a bit longer - and there you have The Winner Takes It All. I don't remember what happened to Frida after that but I do remember what happened to Benny - where he moved, who he moved with, who was calling his name, etc as narrated in the song. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 90.5.14.123 (talk) 01:32:29, August 19, 2007 (UTC)

This is incorrect! Knowing Me, Knowing You was written and recorded in March 1976 and for sure was not written during this couple's break-up, as that happened two and a half year later: in December 1978. Björn has never claimed Agnetha had anything to do with 'collaborating' with him on the lyrics of 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', as these lyrics were written with manager Stig Andersson. Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad married in 1978 and split up in January 1981, and it has never been claimed the lyrics for 'The Winner Takes It All' has anything to do with their marriage or break-up as you are hinting. At the time of recording this song, Benny and Frida were still together; at the time of the filming of the video of the song, one of the reasons it was filmed on the West Coast of Sweden was that Benny and Frida were on holiday there in their yacht. So, if you were a 'neighbour' once, your curiosity certainly made up some entirely wrong stories.

Agnetha has stated in almost every interview where this topic comes up that she was no 'loser' in their divorce, and in an interview with Terry Wogan on BBC in 1987, she comments on the divorce that it had nothing to do with the stress around ABBA: "It would have happened anyway". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.117.246.40 (talk) 05:51, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Release date

Are you sure it was released in July? I thought it was released in the fall in the US about 1 to 2 months before the album.
