Stephen Hawking's appearance was generally well-received. Simon Helberg complimented Stephen Hawking on his comedic timing via Twitter.^[1] The writers were also complimented for featuring a scientist as a guest star, rather than "another walking pop culture reference", and for limiting the screen time of guest stars (both in this episode and previous ones), so as not to sacrifice the integrity of their writing.^[2]
