A shrine at the grave of Saint Makhmud Azam in Uzbekistan

Grave worshiping is a custom in some religious groups of praying at the grave of a saint.[citation needed]

Islam

In some countries, the Mausoleum of Sufis have been turned into pilgrimage sites where pilgrims pray to the saint. Some Muslims[who?] believe that dead saints can intercede to God and help them at times of distress. Others[who?] consider this to be an act of major shirk (polytheism).[citation needed]
