Far from Heaven is a 2002 film which tells the story of a 1950s houswife who finds her husband kissing another man, and develops her own relationship with an African American man.

The movie was written and directed by Todd Haynes, and stars Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid, Dennis Haysbert and Patricia Clarkson.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Moore), Best Cinematography, Best Music, Original Score and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.

The movie is said to have been influenced by director Douglas Sirk.
