OK, thanks for your help I understand. Sadly seems too complicated. I only wanted to try and make the page look more appealing.

Assistance on AfC Submission

Can you please ad the comment back that will allow submission apologies for the deletion Kruzepatrick (talk) 19:35, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

HI Theroadislong. I'm sure you are doing pretty fine. You left a message for me on my talk page related to the above draft article. On the above draft article, you said IMDB is not a reliable source. I have just fixed the issue and put a reliable source. You can go review it. Thanks.

Article Dragos Iliescu

Hello, thank you for your comment on my article Dragos Iliescu. I ammended it according to your feedback. Looking forward for your reply.

Draft: DC Comics Complete Reprint

Hello. Hopefully, this is a good place to leave a message.

The goal of the titular draft (that I hope becomes a webpage) is to help new comic fans or collectors quickly find comics to read. For instance, all Silver Age Flash comics spanned from Showcase #4- Flash #199. Having a webpage that allows readers to quickly locate comic collections that reprint all the comics within that Era would benefit. Some overlap, such as the Omnibus reprinting Showcase in black-and-white. But, the goal is to let readers know if they like a specific format, which character/team or age has a complete run. Does that clarify matters?

Hi there,

You gave some good comments on the draft of the TradeTech page before (including some valuable pointers on "solutions"). I have since amended the page. Would it be I impossible to spare a few minutes and give it another once-over? Apologies, appreciate you will be busy but any pointers are super helpful and very welcome.

Thanks so much and all the best.

Response to "Paid Editing"

Thank you for informing. I just read the terms and conditions related to paid contributions/editing. According to it, i added the required details, both on the talk page of the article Draft talk:Razi Ahmed and my user page. I'll just edit the requirements on my user page, according to what you have mentioned. Please let me know if it's correct. Thank you!

I would like to add 4 other article links in the Notes and references section : 2. Can you tell me if this is correct? And if otherwise, how should I use it?

Here are the link in question : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Jonathan_Kubben#Notes_et_references

Many thanks.

Yes, I agree. But so far, no one has given me one valid point to prove that he is not notable. Infact, I see that few pages written in Wikipedia has his content, copy pasted. I have retained it as draft, whenever they find it notable, let them approve.it's my duty to continue to keep updating.

I have made few more titles as trichur brothers, which I am yet to add. I want Wikipedia to be as resourceful for Indian Hindus as possible. Vasudharini (talk) 10:43, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft needs inline sources , see WP:REFB for help, also read WP:NAUTHOR for the criteria he needs to pass in order to get an article about him. Theroadislong (talk) 10:48, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kind help, please go through the list, there are more references I have another 5-6 easily. Which is along with his photograph. Please review it and then suggest the improvements. I would be very happy 😊 Vasudharini (talk) 12:14, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Any update? I have been trying to bring this to a discussion point, but after just saying it is not notable, they just stop. Only if anyone is able to guide me, with what is exactly wrong with the sources, I would be clear. Vasudharini (talk) 12:53, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Vasudharini You have added sources but you have not submitted it for review, if you are certain that he passes the notability criteria or WP:NAUTHOR go ahead and submit. Theroadislong (talk) 12:58, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since it is deleted multiple times, I am unsure, hence seeking help. If anyone who is able to go through and then suggest, I would be able to do it. Thank you so much. I'll try to submit it for review again. Vasudharini (talk) 13:01, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Scientists for Labour Wiki Page

Hi there. This is my first article, and I confess I'm struggling to understand exactly why it has been rejected. I've been asked by Scientists For Labour to create the Scientists For Labour Wiki page. I've linked the Scientists For Labour website as a source, and I've been asked by their administrator to make the page, so I'm just not sure what the problem is? Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stefan Lamb (talkcontribs) 12:00, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In order for an article subject to be considered notable by the Wikipedia community, we require that an article subject receive significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject their own website cannot be used to establish notability. You also need to declare your conflict of interest on your user page, per Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure you must disclose who is paying you to edit, editors who are or expect to be compensated for their contributions must disclose their employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any paid contributions. Theroadislong (talk) 12:31, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Theroadislong, I do not understand what you mean? I have studied this for like 2 hours and I do not know if you want to delete it? Please do not if you want to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NoirVozeeWolf (talkcontribs) 18:40, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an admin so cannot delete your draft, but I do notice now, that we already have an article on the Aardwolf so your draft is redundant. Theroadislong (talk) 18:46, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gingerfinallysnaps (talk) 5th November 2020 18.39pm (UTC) @Theroadislong Thank you for taking the time to review this page. I can absolutely confirm I am not Philippa Beale and I have never met her. I am not her friend or relative. I have been to a few of her exhibitions and follow her on social media, that is all. Please let me have the chance to provide information with citations as required by Wikipedia. Best wishes, __Gingerfinallysnaps (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gingerfinallysnaps (talkcontribs) 18:44, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK, but do read WP:NARTIST for the criteria that she needs to pass in order to have an article. Theroadislong (talk) 18:49, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
My reasoning for suspecting, was that you labeled a photograph of her work as "The Hunting Wood painted by Philippa Beale in 2013. Date 14 May 2017 Source "Own work" how do you own the copyright? The photograph has now been tagged as a copyright violation. Theroadislong (talk) 18:53, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lester J. Brown

Thank you. I am a complete novice. I just added a reference. This was an article posted in the Journal of the Dental Association of South Africa on the death of my father, Dr. Lester J. Brown. The oration was given by a prominent Surgeon, Dr. Lionel Blum. What more do I have to do? Again thanks for your help. I just discovered what a tildes is but I'm not sure what its purpose is. Rochella Cooper November 7th 2020 a day to remember! (Rochellacooper (talk) 19:51, 7 November 2020 (UTC))[reply]

That would be a copyright violation, all content needs to be written in your own words, referring to reliable sources. In order to demonstrate notability, you need to provide multiple references to in-depth articles written about Lester J. Brown in unrelated, independent journals, magazines, books or online. If there are no sources then we can’t have an article about them. Yes.. November 7th a memorable day indeed! Theroadislong (talk) 20:00, 7 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help with my draft page (Draft: The Goblin Club)

Draft: The Goblin Club

Hi Theroadislong!

I hope you are well.

I was wondering whether you could help me with my page (Draft:The Goblin Club) and get it approved. Any help or advice would be much appreciated! :)

Best wishes,

Gobbo123

As per the comment on the draft "Needs external news sources to show notability outside of the university" it doesn't appear to be a notable topic, no amount of editing will change that. Theroadislong (talk) 08:16, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I thought I reverted it

I asked a question at the teahouse about profanity and sooner found out Wikipedia is not censored. I carelessly deleted a statement and genuinely thought I had reverted my edits here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Aurelio_Voltaire&diff=prev&oldid=987169196. I've been wrapping my head around the whole wikipedia policies so i appreciate any kind assistance. I just checked it again now as you have overtly showed me. Thanks. My edit

I did leave a reason of why I removed the sentence in the Wikipedia article One America News Network. It was completely biased. There’s no facts backing it up. Wikipedia is not supposed to be biased and there is many liberal biased post in Wikipedia articles, especially in articles about politics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TalentedTwin (talkcontribs) 12:08, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You removed correctly sourced material. Wikipedia merely reports on what the reliable sources say, you are welcome to discuss the perceived bias on the article talk page. Theroadislong (talk) 12:56, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Theroadislong. I was going to move this user page to a Draft page, but I saw that you had slapped a speedy on it. Denial

Hi I am wondering why the article for Sojourn Wallace was declined. Can you please be specific. She is a scholar and has made a huge impact in the refugee world.

Daan

Wikipedia articles require there to be multiple in-depth coverage in reliable sources your draft has three sources, Amazon is not a reliable source and the Huff post article doesn't mention her, we need WP:SIGCOV. Theroadislong (talk) 23:06, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theroadislong. I have updated all the details you had issue with and have include additional citations. I hope they help. Kind Regards, Daan

Sojourn Wallace

Hi. I am in no way shape or form being paid for editing this page. I read all the rules to ensure it was appropriate for me to do so and in turn understood it was. My only reason for writing the article about Sojourn is that she is a very well known, social activist, and in particular the grassroots refugee welfare space. Everyone knows her and when a memo was released about a skatepark being built in Lebanon after the explosion, for the first time, someone questioned why this woman didn't have a wiki page considering her age, her race, and all of her accomplishments. I work for Open Society Foundation, and formerly for the UN and know that her name is known or as you say "noteworthy". Due to Covid, I had some free time to 'try' to write the article. If the way I wrote it sounds inappropriate, I'd be happy to take pointers on how to sound more neutral. At this point, I feel even more committed to getting this right!

I have removed the tag for you. The sources are all dumped at the end of the draft and would be better following exactly the content that they verify. Theroadislong (talk) 20:42, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Thanks for the info. I have done it as you said. :)

In regards to the article Le Touquet

Hello there! The reference you did not approve as sufficient coverage is a French newspaper, this newspaper I have listed is well known and reliable in France, please see here. It clearly mentions that Idan and Markowicz worked together to put together the Exhibition - If it shows in french on your computer please let me know and I am happy to send you a translated article. I do not see a relationship between the artist mentioned and this Wikipedia page - I do not believe there is a conflict of interest. What do you advise? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaeleymccann1 (talkcontribs) 17:36, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In order for an article subject to be considered notable by the Wikipedia community, we require that an article subject receive significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject. One source no matter how reliable really doesn't suffice. Theroadislong (talk) 18:05, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Rico Torres

Hello Theroadislong,

I have removed all non-reliable sources and pending your approval for one of my many submissions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rico_Torres

I reviewed all of your submissions as well, which is why I am learning how to submit properly. I saw this one of this actress that you submitted: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clare_Cathcart , the actor that I am submitting has far more references than she does and she has a profile.

I would like to know why this actor profile I submitted has not been approved yet? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elenacheesee (talkcontribs) 23:22, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There are no "profiles" on Wikipedia, just articles which are supported by reliable sources, another reviewer will doubtless look at it soon. Theroadislong (talk) 23:26, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Care to tell me why you're so hell-bent on removing large chunks of text from my article?

You rudely called it unsourced "puffery" and so I sourced it. You retaliated by removing even more lines from the text, for nonsensical reasons like "promotional". BetweenCupsOfTea (talk) 10:11, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is written in a dry neutral tone content like "It has been described as an outdoor classroom, a place to rediscover leisure and wellness, a calming space to unplug from the city and reconnect with nature, and above all, a meeting place for family and friends" and "one of the oldest and largest urban parks" is unsourced and promotional so I removed it. Theroadislong (talk) 10:21, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you say so. BetweenCupsOfTea (talk) 10:34, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It has nothing to do with what I say, it is Wikipedia's core policy see Wikipedia:Five pillars. Theroadislong (talk) 11:53, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Rico Torres

I do not have "close connection" to this subject. I am an executive assistant at MEDLIFE which is a non-profit geared to helping those in the underserved communities with basic access to healthcare, sanitation and building schools. I want to begin writing about several people who I feel represent the culture of giving back to communities. I am starting with Rico Torres and then working my way across list of actors, singers and authors. I don't understand, do you not want me to write articles about people who make a difference? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elenacheesee (talkcontribs) 15:58, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has articles about notable people only. Notability of a topic is judged by looking at the depth of coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources.

Novice editors are commonly advised to cite at least three independent, reliable, secondary sources containing significant coverage. Some degree of regional, statewide, national, or international media coverage is also required. Most people are not suitable subjects for an encyclopedia article Theroadislong (talk) 16:01, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I look at your submission list and all the people I am going to write about including Rico Torres has more than 15-20 references and is more of a notable figure than many of what you have submitted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elenacheesee (talkcontribs) 16:06, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

See other stuff exists it is not a good argument, please be patient the article has been much improved by the removal of poor quality sources, another reviewer will most likely accept it shortly, I don't like to review a draft more than once so as to get a broader opinion for you. Theroadislong (talk) 16:10, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am patient, I just really want to have a list as big as yours and I hate that because I am just beginning I get told all these things when I compare my writing and articles with others that are far worse than mine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elenacheesee (talkcontribs) 16:12, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also there are articles that are SO much less notable and are still published. Ex: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olga_Safari — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elenacheesee (talkcontribs) 16:09, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you are correct, but the existence of poor quality articles is not a good argument for adding more? Theroadislong (talk) 16:13, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Elenacheesee If you have no connection with the subject, can I ask how you have managed to take his photograph and upload it? Theroadislong (talk) 19:57, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have 100+ photographs of different public figures. I don't know who took this photograph. I read somewhere that it was a celebrity photographer Bobby Quillard. I can send you 10 photographs of 10 different public figures I want to create articles on? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elenacheesee (talkcontribs) 20:42, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I do not understand what the problem here is? I am waiting to get this article approved so that I can begin working on the next article? Is it really this difficult to edit and submit articles on Wikipedia? If so, then I am going to dedicate my time elsewhere but please let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elenacheesee (talkcontribs) 20:44, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If the photograph was taken by Bobby Quillard you do NOT hold the copyright and have no right to upload, it will be deleted. Theroadislong (talk) 20:47, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay? Anything else? Do you want me to being my 2nd and 3rd article and deny them all or are we going to proceed with this article being published so that I do not waste anymore time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elenacheesee (talkcontribs) 21:12, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have already said that I will leave the review to another reviewer since you evidently do not value my opinion, the queue is long and it could take up to three months, but there is no urgency. Theroadislong (talk) 21:20, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply Theroadislong. Yes, I was asked to help a scientist put up a very neutral profile on Wikipedia. And yes, I am being paid to do so as he says he is not a writer and wanted a professional to do it. He already has a profile describing his business, but wanted one put up to summarize who he is in relation to his business. Be happy to send you the details as to who he is on a private line if possible. I guess I have to read the link that was sent to me to understand how to find 10 articles to edit? I didn't know this would be so complicated! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scientrep (talkcontribs) 19:14, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Scientrep you will need to make the mandatory disclosure on your user page first, creating an article from scratch is the MOST difficult thing to do on Wikipedia, being paid to do so, will make it even more difficult, spending a few months editing other articles would give you a feel for how things work here, whilst diving straight in is likely to be unsuccessful, either way you will need to use the WP:AFC process. Paid editing whilst not forbidden is very much discouraged here. Theroadislong (talk) 19:43, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I wish to create a Wikipedia site for the photographer James Fortune

Thank you for your detailed response, but I am more confused than ever. I gave up last time, nothing made any sense, but I totally believe in Wikipedia and use it all time, and I have lots to contribute. I guess I'll look over the articles and instructions, but I don't have the kind of mind that seems to understand this. I created my account under brookesaunders, do I make the James Fortune page from that? Or do I create a new account for James Fortune? I looked at all the other rock photographers out there and James Fortune is equally legendary and qualified to be there, that is beyond dispute. I can create a basic article on him, with links to Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney, and the hundred other superstars he photographed. Then do I submit that and hope you guys believe in his status to be on Wikipedia? What other proof would you need about him? I don't want to do all this work to have the article rejected. Brookesaunders (talk) 23:09, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Have you read the response to your Teahouse post? Please read "this guide written by a Wikipedia administrator named Ian.thomson to see if that's a real possibility. If it is, then perhaps you could start working on a draft for a possible article about him, and then submit it to Wikipedia:Articles for creation for review when you think it's ready. You can find some general information on how articles are actually expected to be written and how citations are to be added to articles in Help:Your first article and Help:Referencing for beginners."Creating an article from scratch is the very hardest thing to do on Wikipedia, and doubly difficult when you have a conflict of interest, I strongly suggest you leave it for others unconnected to create the article, which if he is notable will surely happen. I just wanted to acknowledge how much I have long appreciated your innumerable 'thanks' notifications for a range of edits I have made. It is reassuring to know that other editors think something was correctly called. Although I am not very good, myself, at leaving 'thanks' in return, I thought it was about time I dropped by to thank you for all the sterling work that you do here. Hello, I am vary new to making pages, I feel that I have someone here that needs to be posted to Wikipedia, in a achievement of mastery, and novels writing and publishing, called Nevaeh Saga, by Marcel Ray Duriez. Why, word count now at this time and date is passing the worlds longest, books likewise in volumes as well. Also in less then 8 years braking pending Guinness Worldly Records. I need your help, your page looks cool, and I need this to work, if if you feel the need to change to make this page happen you may do so.

A lot of the info about this writer is here https://marcel331869472.wordpress.com/

The website is this https://duriez19.wixsite.com/marcelrayduriez

Blogs are not reliable sources. In order for an article subject to be considered notable by the Wikipedia community, we require that an article subject receive significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject. There are zero such sources in your draft. Theroadislong (talk) 11:55, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your feedback regarding sources on Oli London. I will update them now. Do they mainly need the date of the artilce and date of retrieval? such as:July 19, 2012. Retrieved November 8, 2013.

Thank you very much for your time and feedback.

Naturopathy

I would be interested in your thoughts: a) Do you think the summary gives a clear idea of what Naturopathy is? b) Do you think it could be written better?

It is irrelevant what my thoughts are, you were blocked for 48 hours for edit warring on your return, you immediately started edit warring again. Theroadislong (talk) 11:28, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so to be clear, you are not interested in improving this article? There is a talk page on the entry if you would like to engage in improvement, as your thoughts would be welcomed. Rmjowett (talk) 11:38, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The lede section of an article should summarise the content of the body, this article appears to do just that namely "Naturopathy or naturopathic medicine is a form of alternative medicine that employs an array of pseudoscientific practices branded as "natural", "non-invasive", or promoting "self-healing"." On Wikipedia we unambiguously specify when a practice is pseudoscience and adjust the weight of articles according to the mainstream and scientific views of relevant experts in the field, supported with reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 11:46, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So we need to improve the main body and the lede then? If I were to ask you what Naturopathy is, given the information contained in this article, could you give a decent answer? Rmjowett (talk) 11:59, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am happy with the article as it is, if you want changes, you will need to provide the reliable sources that support them and get consensus on the talk page.

Is the Cambridge Dictionary regarded as an unreliable source? I am trying to seek consensus on the article talk page but thus far I have had zero engagement. Rmjowett (talk) 12:12, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dictionaries are not usually used as sources, more help finding sources here Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources (medicine). Theroadislong (talk) 13:43, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Actor Article Submission (New)

@Theroadislong

In answer to your comment (which I appreciate) as to paid content: I met the actress and her husband earlier today for the first time through a mutual friend. They have indeed offered to pay me to write an brief article for each of them. They are both accomplished artists in their fields of graphic and performing arts. Each has a website devoted to their work, and the awards and recognition they've received through the years. MeeWha Lee (the actor) is featured in the upcoming film Umma (mother in Korean), Sony Studios, Sam Raimi produced, playing Sandra Oh's mother.

I am obviously new regarding Wikimedia policies and procedures. I'm really just trying to help out in response to my friend's request. I will of course adhere to any and all policies regarding full disclosure, non-promotion et al.

I realize they may not meet certain prerequisites, but I'd like to submit an article for each and if they pass muster, so be it. If not, then we'll know.

Any article on how to how to write an article will be most appreciated: I received detailed comments from Victor Schmidt, and Nick Moyes, so I've got much to learn and digest before proceeding.

Sincerely,

Hugh G McCormack — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hugh G McCormack (talkcontribs) 19:14, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Creating an article from scratch is the MOST difficult task here. Notability of a topic is judged by looking at the depth of coverage in independent, reliable, secondary sources.

Novice editors are commonly advised to cite at least three independent, reliable, secondary sources containing significant coverage. Some degree of regional, statewide, national, or international media coverage is also required. Most people are not suitable subjects for an encyclopedia article. See WP:YFA. Please make the mandatory paid editing declaration on your user page as requested on your talk page before you do anything else or you are likely to be blocked before you even start, paid editing whilst allowed is very seriously NOT encouraged here by volunteer editors who give their time freely. Hi there,

Thank you for your message. I am an intern in Washington DC for the organization and was updating some outdated information today. This is my first time using Wikipedia, so I appreciate your feedback. All of the information on the page can be verified on the website for the organization. I would also like to move the page back to its original state, rather than a draft if possible. Thank you!

The draft Draft:Hemphill Fine Arts has zero sources and will not be moved to main space until it does. You have a conflict of interest so you should not be editing articles directly, but only making suggestions on the article talk pages. Theroadislong (talk) 21:58, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Longstanding page moved to draft

The Hemphill Fine Arts article was moved to draft after 10 years in mainspace. Noting the September 2020 consensus about Draftification, I think the future of the article would be better resolved using deletion discussion procedures. Can I suggest reversing the actions taken on November 20th so that an AfD on the article in mainspace can then be opened? AllyD (talk) 08:54, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Donald Gould Article

Hello Theroadislong,

I've seen the notability template entered on the article I've recently submitted and wanted advice on how to improve this status. I'm new to editing on Wikipedia, so might not be privy to all of the rules and regulations of the platform.

I've added several respected citations to the article from various sources including The Washington Post, Inside Edition, ABC news, CNN, FOX and ACLU of Florida. There are also many videos relating to Donald Gould available on YouTube but I've mostly avoided using these. I have also included a section on a court case he was involved in against the city of Sarasota. Will this improve the notability of the subject matter?

Thanks for your time regarding this.

Back on August 7 you declined "Barry N. Haack." After addressing the issues you identified I resubmitted the article. Did you see my messages to you on my talk page?

You haven't responded yet, so I just wanted to make sure you saw it. Thanks. Dbeusee (talk) 22:16, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You are responsible for her fan club so you have a clear conflict of interest, it would be advisable to use the Edit request method on the article's talk page for future content. Theroadislong (talk) 22:19, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong: Can you answer my question about what specifically will it take to remove the warning box from the article and if I did the disclosure properly? And just to clarify... I run a fan club where she is the subject. It is not her fan club - nobody related to her has any control or influence over it. If I did a edit request, who would respond to it, and how long should I reasonably wait before just making the edit myself? Another question, does all the discussion on my talk page and the article's talk page need to remain there forever? What are the rules about that? Most important right now is what needs to be done, and by who, to get the warning box removed? I appreciate all that you do and your feedback. Dbeusee (talk) 23:08, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong: Hi, I saw your reply on Talk:Charlotte_Summers and I replied to it:
None of the awards are notable and have no in-depth coverage in independent sources, they confer no notability whatsoever. Theroadislong (talk) 03:52, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong: Ok. I didn't put any of those in, but I removed the entire section. Dbeusee (talk) 00:22, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If I could get answers to my questions above, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! Dbeusee (talk) 01:03, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) Let me try to answer your questions Dbeusee. Edit requests should, in my opinion, only be answered by editors unconnected to the subject matter (i.e. doesn't have a WP:COI) who are knowlegable enough about relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines to properly assess the request. All Wikipedia editors are WP:VOLUNTEERs who work on things that interest them, but there are some who try to help out by answering edit requests. Answering your own edit request kind of defeats the purpose of an edit request in the first place; so, you just have to be patient until another editor comes along to assess you request. Follow the guidance given in WP:PSCOI#Steps for engagement if a week passes and nobody responds to your request.
The "warning box" your referring to are called maintenance templates; like edit requests, pages tagged with such templates are flagged for review and there are volunteer editors who go around trying to "fix" articles tagged with such templates. Basically, they are removed as explained here. The templates added to the article have nothing to do with whether you disclose any COI and doing so will not speed up their removal, but you shouldn't remove them unless your completely certain that you've resolved the relevant issues. If you do remove such a template and another editor subsequently re-adds it, use the article talk page to establish a WP:CONSENSUS one way or the other.
You may remove content from your user talk page as explained in WP:BLANKING; however, your user talk page isn't really yours per se; so, in a sense, you're sort of just "renting" from the Wikimedia Foundation, but are given a bit of leeway when it comes to "managing" it. Article talk pages, however, are different in that they are for the use of all editors who want to discuss ways to improve an article; you may remove or revise posts you make on such pages as explained in WP:REDACT under some conditions, but you shouldn't remove/blank content added by other editors as explained in WP:TPO. Article talk pages who get to long and become unwieldy to navigate may be WP:ARCHIVEd, but archiving should not be used as a way to hide or end discussion you might not like.
A conflict of interest can also be because your connection to the subject of an article is so strong that you might find it quite difficult to write about the subject in a WP:NPOV way. So, even though you're not in charge of Summers' official fan club or aren't in her employ in any way, the fact that you do run a fan club about her might indicate a strong connection that might make it hard for you to see her in any way other than as a fan. An actor may have many fans, some who may be even considered super fans; it's not necessarily the fact that they are fans which gives them a conflict of interest, but the fact that their fandom is getting in the way or hampering their ability to edit in accordance with Wikipedia's policies ang guidelines. Editors, including COI editors, who are here for Wikipedia seem to run into much fewer problems than editors who are here for other reasons. You will be assessed based upon your contributions as an editor. If you can demonstrate to others through your contirbutions that you have a fairly good grasp of WP:COPO and WP:5P, you'll probably be fine; if not, you'll find yourself having problems. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:56, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Theroadislong: @Marchjuly: Thank you for explaining all that! I'll need more time to absorb all this, but a couple of things I am not very clear about:
* The people you identify as "editors"...are you saying these are people who work on the Wikipedia project, not the, shall I say, other contributors who want to work on the same page that I am contributing to? And I gather these editors find these "edit requests" in some sort of queue? I assume these editors have achieved some sort of understanding of the Wikipedia rules and then given "editor" access which includes access to this "edit requests" queue? Or is there really no distinction from Wikipedia's point of view between editor and contributor and anyone can access this queue?
* As far as the maintenance template that was added to the page, I wish to resolve it. If I don't know exactly what I did to trigger it, how can I know how to resolve it, and know that it is resolved or not? That is what I was hoping to get from Theroadislong, since he/she was the person that raised the issues in the first place. I also thought Theroadislong would be the one to remove the template when he/she thought it was resolved, since I wouldn't be the one to determine that. I read the page about how to resolve it and it doesn't really answer these questions. I think anyone raising such issues with a maintenance template should be clear about what caused him/her to raise it and what needs to happen to resolve it. I also wonder if *I* am the one who added whatever text to the article that prompted the maintenance template to be added, because at the same time the maintenance template went up, he/she deleted text which did NOT come from me, yet I was the target of it. Again, without any detailed feedback on exactly what triggered it, I have no clue. Am I making sense? It would be nice if Theroadislong could update the talk page for the article detailing exactly what triggered it and how to resolve it so that it can be safely removed. As I noted above, Theroadislong did mention one thing on the article's talk page, which I have resolved by removing the entire section, as I noted. Is that what raised the maintenance template? I have no clue. Someone please help me resolve this!
Dbeusee (talk) 07:39, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have trimmed the article for fan cruft and removed the tags. Theroadislong (talk) 08:22, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) All Wikipedia editors are WP:VOLUNTEERs who edit for their own reasons and at their own pace. The Wikimedia Foundation has paid-staff, but they aren't really involved in the upkeep of articles. If they do edit, then they do so as volunteers just like everyone else. I'm not familiar with the specifics of edit requests, but I believe when Template:Edit request is (properly) used, the article talk page it's added to is itself added to a category page of outstanding requests. The requests are most likely categorized according to the date they were made, but I think those who answer them simply look for requests they feel they can answer in no particular order. Some editors may look for requests which have been outstanding for quite sometime whereas others might look for requests about subjects they feel they know something about. I believe any editor who wants to help out answering requests can do so, but a certain degree of competence is required. For example, if someone means well and wants to help out by answering requests but really has no idea as to what they're doing, there "answer" might be WP:REVERTed by a more experienced editor to see whether a WP:CONSENSUS can be established either way. If this happens too many times, then it's possible that an editor might be requested to refrain from answering any more requests unitl they gain a better understanding of things Wikipedia.
Maintenance templates can be added by any editor who feels there's a problem that needs addressing. Editors are encouraged to avoid adding such templates just for the sake of adding them or excessively adding them ans if possible, instead of adding a template, the problem should be fixed. However, not everyone has the time or the confidence to try and fix things so; so, they add a template to let others know about their concerns. If you want to find out why a template was added to a specific article, then check the article's history to see if you can figure out who added it and when it was added. Sometimes the person adding it will leave an edit summary explaining why if it's not something that's quite obvious. You can also check the article's talk page because sometimes the editor adding a template will further clarify on the talk page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:40, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
