The IBM PS/2 CL57SX (Personal System/2 Color Laptop 57SX) is the first laptop with a color TFT screen released by IBM in 1992. It was released a few months before the introduction of the ThinkPad series.

Background

It was developed by a joint venture between IBM and Toshiba.[1]

Specifications

It is based on the Micro Channel Architecture.[2] It contained a 386SX on 20MHz, between 2 and 16MiB RAM, 10.4" color TFT, weighted 11lbs and had a trackball.[3]

It can run IBM OS/2.

It was priced at $5,995 and available from April 1992.[4][5]

Reception

It was not favorably received by the market.[6]
