Let's Get Caught by the Neck is an upcoming South Korean television series written by Bae Soo-young, directed by Lee Ho and Lee Hyun-kyung, and starring Kim Ha-neul, Yeon Woo-jin and Jang Seung-jo. Based on the Naver web novel of the same name by New Lucky, it depicts the story of a reporter, who is suspected of being a murderer, and set to find out the truth to escape this problem. It is scheduled to premiere on KBS2 on March 2024, every Monday and Tuesday.

Sysnopsis

It is a melodrama chase thriller in which a reporter who catches bad guys by any means and a detective from the homicide team who handcuffs bad guys fall into a huge whirlpool while tracking down a series of murder cases together.[2]

Main

  • Kim Ha-neul as Seo Jeong-won: a promising reporter who travels all over the scene and will do whatever it takes to get a scoop. She entangled in a love triangle with her ex-boyfriend Tae-heon and husband Woo-jae through a mysterious murder case.[3]
  • Yeon Woo-jin as Kim Tae-heon: a detective who handcuffs bad guys. He is the ace of the homicide team who can't do what he doesn't want to do but has to do what he wants to do to get rid of his anger. His heart begins to swirl when he meets Jeong-won, the woman he loved so passionately in the past, through a murder case.[3]
  • Jang Seung-jo as Seol Woo-jae: a second-generation chaebol novelist and Jung-won's husband. A man who looks perfect on the outside, but has a dark and empty heart. He always believed that he would live a stable life with his wife, but a series of events begin to crack him.[3]

  • Yoon Je-moon as Mo Hyeong-taek: a former prosecutor-turned-parliament member who doesn't hesitate to cover up the truth. He is also in conflict with Jeong-won.[4]
  • Han Chae-ah as Yu Yoon-yeong: the director of a neuropsychiatry hospital, who is also Jeong-won's counselor.[4]
  • Jung In-gi as Kang In-han: the news director of the station where Jeong-won works.[4]
  • Kim Min-jae as Ju Yeong-seok: a photographer at Jeong-won's newsroom. He and Jeong-won are always at odds but when given an assignment they become inseparable partners.[4]

Production

Development

The series is based on Naver web novel of the same name by New Lucky, which won the Grand Prize in the web novel mystery category at the 2020 Naver Webtoon & Web Novel World's Largest Contest (2020 네이버웹��&웹소설 지상최대공모전; 2020 neibeowebtun&websoseol jisangchoidaegongmojeon).[5][6] It is helmed by writer Bae Soo-young, directors Lee Ho and Lee Hyun-kyung, and produced by Monster Union and Production H.[7]

Casting

Kim Ha-neul, Yeon Woo-jin, and Jang Seung-jo were cast for the main roles of the series and it was officially confirmed on January 10, 2024.[8][2]

On January 12, 2024, Jung Woong-in, Yoon Je-moon, Han Chae-ah, Jung In-gi, and Kim Min-jae were confirmed to play supporting roles for the series.[9]

Filming

It was announced that the filming would began on the second half of 2023.[8]

Release

KBS announced that the series will premiere on March 2024, on Monday–Tuesday lineup.[3]
