Eddie Laughton (June 20, 1903 – March 21, 1952), was an English film actor. Born in Sheffield, England, Laughton appeared in over 200 films between 1935 and 1952.
Laughton left his native country of England to pursue a Hollywood movie career. He started in vaudeville, and was eventually placed under contract by Columbia Pictures. He appeared in many feature and short films throughout the 1930s and 1940s.
Modern viewers will remember Laughton for his role as convict 41144 'Percy Pomeroy' in the Three Stooges films So Long Mr. Chumps and Beer Barrel Polecats. He was also a convincing French floorwalker at the Stooges 'Madame de France' gown store in Slippery Silks. Cream pies found Laughton as he told tales of a gripping lion hunt in 1941's In the Sweet Pie and Pie.
In addition to his roles in the Three Stooges' shorts, Laughton joined the team during their personal appearances in between filming schedules, acting as their straight man.
Laughton died of pneumonia on March 21, 1952.
