David Abdón Galeano Olivera (born February 18, 1961 in Asunción) is a Paraguayan linguist, anthropologist, philologist, educator, president and fonder of Lyceum of language and culture Guarani.

Background

Galeano Olivera achieved secondary education at Gral. Bernardino Caballero college in Asunción in 1979. He achieved bachelor of linguistic Guarani at Universidad Nacional de Asunción 1985. He also archived doctor degree at this university in these specialties: Linguistic and Philology of Guarani (in 1998 and 1999), Methodology of researches (2000), university didactics (1994 and 1995), common Linguistic (1987) and also at Ntra. Sra. de la Asunción Catholic University he became doctor of Antropology (in 1988) and international anthropology and ethnology (1991).

Work at university

Mr. David Galeano Olivera is a professor of these faculties at Universidad Nacional de Asunción: Philosophy (philology of Guarani), Medicine, Politechnology, Nature and Exact sciences. He is a chief of departments of anthropology, methodology of researches, sociology and Spanish language.

Guarani language

David Galeano Olivera has founded Lyceum of language and culture Guarani (Ateneo de Lengua y Cultura Guarani) at 1985 and he is a president of this institution from the foundation time. He is also a professor of Grammar, Literature, Didactics and Culture at this lyceum. Mr. Galeano is an activist of guarani language and culture propagation and he manage various culture events, conferences, seminars, forums about guarani in all Paraguay. He as a member of various government, UN commissions about the culture in Paraguay. Also, David Galeano Olivera is an author, coauthor or coordinator of amount of books about guarani and Paraguayan culture. Mr. Galeano is prized of various national and international prizes because of important educational work.

Mr. David Galeano Olivera lives in Capiatá, Central department. His wife is Sabina (specialist of Guarani), and 4 children Edgar, Norma, Jorge and Anai.
