New page reviewer

User:Erincoktem

I have received an invitation to apply NPP, I read the what needs to be done and it seems interesting to me. That's why I prefer to apply. Thank for evaluating my application. Erincoktem (talk) 19:37, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done for a two month trial. You have a good track record of content creation. I did see two of your articles deleted or merged at AFD within the last few years, so please be careful when evaluating notability. When in doubt, please leave for another reviewer. Would also like to see some experience with deletion processes such as CSD/PROD/AFD when you reapply in two months. Thank you for helping out! –Novem Linguae (talk) 06:37, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Викидим

I was invited on my talk page to join the NPP. I have read and understand the tutorial, have sufficient experience, and think that I can perform the associated tasks. I have a patrol flag (similar, but different) in the Russian Wikipedia. Викидим (talk) 21:13, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done for a two month trial. Nice work with your content creation and your AFD stats. A tip for AFD: you will probably want to focus your !votes on evaluation of whether or not there's a couple of sources that pass WP:GNG, or whether or not the entire article passes a WP:SNG. –Novem Linguae (talk) 07:51, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Wikisteveb4

I would enjoy making Wikipedia a better place by reviewing new articles to see if they are fitting for the platform. I have made roughly 10,000 edits and enjoy contributing. Thank you. Wikisteveb4 (talk) 22:30, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done for a two month trial. You have a good track record of content creation. Would like to see some experience with deletion processes such as CSD/PROD/AFD when you reapply in two months. I'd also recommend setting up user talk archiving (WP:ARCHIVE#Sequentially numbered archives) instead of just blanking your user talk page, for increased transparency. Thank you for helping out! –Novem Linguae (talk) 08:04, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Saintandy7

I have been invited on my talk page to join the NPP and have read through the tutorial page and understand the role I would be taking up. I would love to help review new Wikipedia articles. I have been a user for 13 years and have made more than 100,000 edits. Thanks. Saintandy7 (talk) 22:36, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Quaerens-veritatem

I received an invitation. Wikipedia needs reviewers, I am an experienced editor, meet the guidelines, like to help make the encyclopedia better, have read and fully understand the tutorial at Wikipedia:New pages patrol, and can constructively help deal with the backlog. User:Preferwiki

Reason for requesting new page reviewer rights is because I got invitation to join New pages patrol from Media Wiki. Preferwiki (talk) 04:06, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Florificapis

I have over 120 new articles under my belt, mostly relating to medieval history, monasteries, saints, and geographical features. I am familiar with the kinds of content that would fall under CSD criteria, since I have experience wikifying new pages and tagging obviously problematic new pages for speedy deletion. Familiar with guidelines on AfC, AfD, notability, and proper sourcing, and also draftifying new articles and rating talk pages using scripts. Would be quite happy to help out with the backlog while being cautious and careful. Also currently a Pending Changes Reviewer. Florificapis (talk) 08:26, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Maxim Masiutin

My name is Maxim Masiutin, and I would like to submit my application for the new page reviewer role. I have enough edits and days in Wikipedia. I hope I have a good knowledge of content policies and guidelines and experience with quality control processes. Although I have limited but existing experience in page deletion, I'm a pending page reviewer, and I'm also reviewing pages with recent changes. I also have experience in policy-compliant content editing because I nominated a few pages for Good Article nomination; some passed the criteria, and some failed. However, I'm improving the content of the pages that failed and nominate again. I'm not the one who can judge my behavior, but I hope that I have a solid track record of interacting with other editors, including the new editors, in a civil and constructive manner. I have never had any 3RR violations, but I had a 1-hour block in the last 6 months. Still, I hope that this block should not prevent my application from proceeding. Maxim Masiutin (talk) 09:13, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Novem Linguae is familiar with me. By the way, a message to my Talk page arrived me invited to submit my request for a New page reviewer submission. Maxim Masiutin (talk) 02:56, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll let another admin process this request to avoid bias. Our interaction was slightly negative, but everything is resolved at the moment. –Novem Linguae (talk) 03:08, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please provide your opinion on whether that block that you instituted can affect my abilities/qualification as a potential pending changes reviewer, so that your opinion on that could have been useful for the other administrators? Maxim Masiutin (talk) 17:06, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hah. Not sure it'll be very good for your perm request, but OK: I think you took too long to adjust to the feedback given to you. It took weeks, a block, and a trip to ANI to get the behavior changed. However you did eventually change your behavior so I think you're acting in good faith. Like I said, I'd like someone else to make the judgment call on whether or not this level of responsiveness to feedback would affect NPP work. –Novem Linguae (talk) 21:38, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
pending changes reviewer. Probably just a typo on your part, but FYI, pending changes is a different perm than NPP. –Novem Linguae (talk) 21:39, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. I've been thinking about this one for a while, and I'm going to go ahead and decline it. I agree with the concerns raised by Novem about responsiveness and feedback at NPP, I also agree that you were likely acting in good faith. Give it some time between the incident and your next request, which I do genuinely hope there is going to be a time when there is another request. I think you'll be able to learn, improve, and be a productive member, but I also think you need to be a bit more open to communicative before I'm comfortable granting the perm. I am applying to be a new page reviewer after receiving an invitation to my talk page. With the experience in deletion processes, Articles for Creation, and policy-compliant editing, I believe I meet the criteria. I have a proven record of civil interaction, experience in page management, and a clean behavioral record. I understand the responsibilities associated with the New Page Reviewer role and am eager to contribute to the maintenance and quality control of new Wikipedia pages. User:OpalYosutebito

I'm interested in becoming a new page patroller, as I feel that each edit, no matter how small, helps with the completion of new articles. Also, I tried getting in touch with Cassiopeia yesterday so I could attend NPP school, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. OpalYosutebito (talk) 23:29, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OpalYosutebito I have just replied to you on my talk page. Besides doing my volunteer work in Wikipedia, I have a full time job which I worked 14 hours yesterday and could not reply as soon as you wish. I believe you understand that no all editors can reply in timely manner. Cassiopeia talk 00:30, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, but I didn't know you had a job. Thanks for letting me know - OpalYosutebito (talk) 02:14, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was initially given a month long trial, during which I participated at the November AfC backlog elimination drive. Because of some issues spotted by admins during the drive, I was denied the permanence of the NPR right when I requested it in December 2023. I am sure I no longer have any problems, I have 3 GAs, over 90 articles created on mainspace and still counting. I want to continue helping out with the serious work going on at NPP, and also AfC, as I have a passion for these areas. Thank you for looking into my request. Wanted to add some links, but I think MusikBot will do it ;) Vanderwaalforces (talk) 10:47, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging @Joe Roe in case he has any interest in chiming in on this one. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:50, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping. I'm not going to review this request, but personally I wouldn't grant the right without hearing more from Vanderwaalforces about what he thinks went wrong last time, and how we can be confident that the issues discussed in his last request in December will not reoccur. – Joe (talk) 08:15, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The overall point was mostly my reactions to feedback from other users, I mean, I am not trying to beg for the bit though, but since I became quite learned about major processes on Wikipedia, I now regret those (over)reactions, I now see that I was supposed to see/take that feedback as a way to improve as they were actually good feedback even though most of them were not politely given. Myself, Liz, Joe, DreamRimmer, and some other users have discussed about my reactions back in December/January and I am sure those attitudes are no longer there, because it is evident from my interactions with other users. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 08:30, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done for a two-month trial. I understand and recognize you have already had a one-month trial, but I want to give you a chance to address and respond to any criticism that you may receive. I know you're on the NPP Discord, so when in doubt, ask the group for their opinion on an article. You are encouraged to re-apply roughly a week before the permission is set to expire. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:48, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:TheChineseGroundnut

I've been active for more than 90 days. I'm an AFC reviewer and I have reviewed over 30+ articles and I have also participated a bit on AFD. I also have the Pending Changing Reviewers right and I wish to help the community assess impending modifications of new pages. I am aware of and have read the pertinent guidelines for this authorization. TheChineseGroundnut (talk) 15:05, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. The ability to communicate and to accept and respond to criticism is important, especially for new page patrol members. Your inability to do so, and your lack of participation at WP:AFD, gives me cause for concern. I see you're participating at AfC, so keep it up there, spend some time at AFD, and re-apply again in a few months if you still have interest here. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:54, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Anwegmann

I got an invitation to apply for this privilege, and I am happy to oblige. I have been editing on Wikipedia for 14 or so years, and I've been particularly active over the last five years. I have a lot of experience with formatting, sourcing, and consensus across multiple WikiProjects. I also have some experience with draftification, and I enjoy copyediting and bringing articles up to Wikipedia standards. As a result, I think I'd be a productive new page reviewer, as the responsibilities are well within my bailiwick. Anwegmann (talk) 02:11, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done for a two-month trial, thanks for volunteering! During the trial I'd like to see your replies at AFD focus more on policy and what's available in terms of referencing. I get the gist of what you're trying to say there, and your talk page shows you respond to cricism well, so I'd like to see some work on that. You are encouraged to re-apply roughly a week before the permission is set to expire. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:05, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Isi96

I recently received an invitation to apply for this set of permissions, and I am happy to oblige. I have been editing extensively for the past few years, and in that time I have created many articles and handled feedback on them. I also have a fair amount experience with the AFD and CSD systems. I would be happy to help improve this project even further with the new page reviewer permissions. Isi96 (talk) 03:47, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Kencf0618

Given that the February Articles Needing References Drive has wrapped up and that I'm a sucker for drives, I'd be delighted to participate. I've been meaning to regularize my editing anyway, and it plays to my strengths! kencf0618 (talk) 12:19, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Twinkle1990

Experienced enough with notability and WP:RS. I believe in WP:THREE and want to reduce the backlog of the NPP. A 3 months probationary might be able to test my competency. Twinkle1990 (talk) 16:06, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

information Note: AfC reviewer and autopatrolled were revoked in June 2023 as a result of this AN/I thread. Previous NPR denials: February 2023, June 2023, July 2023. DanCherek (talk) 07:54, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DanCherek in nine months, people improve their lot. Twinkle1990 (talk) 11:06, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but it's relevant background for the administrator reviewing this request, no matter what the decision ends up being. DanCherek (talk) 14:26, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ DanCherek there was no decision at all. Imagine yourself in my position, where 10+ people ask you different questions before you replay one. Can you please tell me how the IP user's very first post came into the ANI? Many Administrators were advocating against my AfC decline, but none were able to my question "How come an IP user post their very first one in ANI if not a sock"?
Further, I declined many drafts later accepted by other reviewers. But what about those declined drafts that are still in declined mode after me?
@DanCherek Please check the user's activity.Twinkle1990 (talk) 15:16, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
By "decision", I simply meant the outcome of your current request for permissions. (please do not ping on reply) DanCherek (talk) 16:07, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Twinkle1990, as someone who had also been criticized, I get your frustration. I wouldn't be surprised if the IP indeed has a Wikipedia user account, but the concerns raised by them were quite valid and serious, and it does seem to appear that the IP is relatively abiding by WP:LOGOUT.
I'm just worried that you'll incorrectly draftify or CSD or tag UPE a newly created article as you seem to be sensitive to creations, and not WP:AGF per this and this, your reply to DanCherek above, and more. So please take that into account for the future.
Anyway, I get that it's tough to gain back community trust, it's been months, and I hope you are successful for a trial. TLAtlak 04:47, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@I'm tla you are correct. It's hard to gain back community trust. That's applicable in real life too. Though most of your saying left me like a dumb, I want to say that I am not into CSD. Rather, I would prefer an AfD. Also, I have learnt that these UPE/COI things are not too easy to determine. At least, whatever I have realized over the time is it needs too much experience to find or detect UPE & COI. Twinkle1990 (talk) 08:55, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My intention wasn't to "leave you like a dumb" (assuming that means what I think it means). By the way, I don't think you should "prefer an AfD" — there are many cases in which WP:CSD is essential and required. And yes, UPE & COI is an issue. TLAtlak 09:18, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
CSD and AfD are important for NPR. I just looked and saw that you have no CSD logs and no recent AfD participation, I think you should withdraw this and get more involved in those areas to ensure you're ready. Also making sure to use good reasons for your votes in AfD, not something like "per nom." TLAtlak 09:39, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I know CSD is important. I have done some while reviewing AfC last year. And most of them were successfully deleted. But such CSDs are not counted in user CSD logs.
Regarding "request withdrawal", let the administrators to decide and decline. Twinkle1990 (talk) 14:19, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DanCherek not surprised that the denial was by you. I admire your vigilance. I have requested for a probationary period. You are also and administrator of Wikipedia. Just decline my request again to make it simple. :) Twinkle1990 (talk) 15:52, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Twinkle1990. Can you explain 1) why you mentioned IP address 180.200.221.5 in your comment above (the "Please check the user's activity." comment), and 2) what you mean by not surprised that the denial was by you? Did DanCherek deny one of your WP:PERM requests or something? –Novem Linguae (talk) 16:56, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
1) I have mentioned because I was asked about that ANI.
2) Because of this.
I don't mean to create any unhealthy discussion here. These are just my frustration of my past mistake. Twinkle1990 (talk) 09:23, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now. I believe you can be a good contributor, but your ability to evaluate content was called into question and there were consequences as a result of it. It's been almost 9 months since that ANI discussion and you've only participated in 4 AfD discussions since then. I'd like to see some activity at AfD if you want to re-apply, which I hope you will some day, and I'd like your replies to have a good policy based explanation for why you're voting how you're voting. At this point in time, it's hard to see what's changed since then and the best way to show what's changed is by showing your ability to evaluate articles at AfD. While I was reading the guideline for grant. I saw i wasn't to days (90) as stated but another line got me, "Admins can grant at their own discretion".
