Fair use rationale for Image:Great Western Bank.jpg

[edit]

Image:Great Western Bank.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

New Great Western Bank

[edit]

There is a new one operating in the midwest: Great Western Bank. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.254.229.218 (talk) 20:08, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Founded 1919?

[edit]

Sometime in the 1980s or early 90s, Great Western aired a number of TV commercials (viewable on YouTube) celebrating "its 100th year as part of the West" and featuring its iconic spots with John Wayne. If Great Western was founded in 1919 as the citation notes, then something doesn't quite add up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.254.26.126 (talk) 20:09, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Public domain photo available

[edit]

As a part of the National Centers for Environmental Information image database showing the aftermath of the 1994 Northridge earthquake, there is a high resolution public domain photograph (TIFF format) of a Great Western administrative building that could be used for Wikipedia if it properly cropped in Photoshop or Gimp. There could be additional photos at this website.

– There has to be a clearer way to disambiguate these titles than by the years which they were/are in business. I tried looking at WP:NCCOMP for ideas, but found nothing ... not even guidance to retain the current disambiguators. I tried looking up titles that end with "company)" and titles that end with "bank)", and ran across no precedence there either. At this point, the only thought I have in the matter is to somehow include "California" and "South Dakota" in their disambiguators, respectively ... but even that doesn't seem to have a policy-based precedence. – Last discussed in 2022, although poorly attended. The current date disambiguation does little to increase recognizability. 162 etc. (talk) 17:55, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
