Population

[edit]

Yafran has a population of around 67.000 according to: http://www.world-geographics.com/africa/libya/2208791-yafran.html , somebody should include this in the infobox because a) displaying the population is a wikipedia standard for articles regarding towns and cities and b) it helps the reader better understand how much or how little significance the town has in light of the civil war (higher population usually means more significant). 195.169.213.92 (talk) 11:29, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

YifrinYafran – "Yifrin" is a rather obscure spelling for the name of this city. I ran some searches on various Google devices comparing three spellings of the name, and this is what I turned up:

  • On Google News:
  • On Google Scholar
    • 28 hits for yafran libya -wikipedia
    • 89 hits for yefren libya -wikipedia
    • 4 hits for yifrin libya -wikipedia

As I see it, the score is 2 for "Yafran", 1 for "Yefren", and nil for "Yifrin". The news results in particular highlight the fact that "Yafran" is the most common spelling in contemporary sources. ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 18:27, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum: Google Maps uses Yafran as well. ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 19:23, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Move I agree with the move, Yafran is more known. EkoGraf (talk) 13:19, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
