[edit]

Please change the text from "Note that if you believe that a free replacement image cannot be reasonably found or created please add one of the following:" to "Note that if you believe that a free replacement image cannot be reasonably found or created please add one of the following without removing this tag:". People all too often are removing the original tag. The Evil Spartan (talk) 01:39, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"old image" parameter

[edit]

No reason to keep on documenting this argument in the default appearance (especially first!), given that the flag day was nearly two years ago. Zetawoof(ζ) 10:35, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added wording about text alternatives

[edit]

I've added "... or which could be covered with free text alone", so as to bring the text of the template in line with NFCC#1, which explicitly mandates that non-free images must be scrutinised for replaceability with text as well as with alternative free images. Language clarification

[edit]

The reference to "free text" in this template has been raised for discussion at WT:CSD. Please contribute there if you have an opinion. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:03, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Old images

[edit]

By now, virtually all images tagged were uploaded after July 2006. Can we switch the two template codes given underneath the dispute instructions so that |oldimage=yes is no longer default, and maybe no longer shows up at all? HereToHelp (talk to me) 16:34, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

After almost 9 years, I think we can at least relegate the "old image" parameter to a lower status. I don't think there will be many, if any at all, images uploaded so long ago that satisfy this criterion and haven't yet been dealt with.
If there is no objection I'll get rid of the "old image" functionality altogether in a little while, as it is no longer anything more than a distraction. — This, that and the other (talk) 03:20, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that the {{deletable file}} meta-template makes it difficult to switch the order of the example invocations. In that case I'll just get rid of it altogether. If anyone objects, please go ahead and revert. — This, that and the other (talk) 03:23, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

TFD discussion that involves this template

[edit]

This is just a notification about a TFD discussion that would involve changes to this template. The discussion is about Template:Di-replaceable fair use disputed, which what is actually nominated for deletion. However, the nomination also discusses changes that would need to happen to this template, and I believe that the folks who watch and maintain this template should be aware that it is going on.

The discussion is located at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2011 September 28#Template:Di-replaceable fair use disputed. SchuminWeb (Talk) 23:19, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

image parameter

[edit]

I think that optional image= parameter with a new replacement image will be very useful. --Rezonansowy (talkcontribs) 18:34, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request for wording changes to clear confusion between fair use and non-free use

[edit]

This template still conflates fair use and non-free use. The wording should change to be consistent with the name of the template, and our policy on non-free content. I am requesting the following changes be made:

Template

[edit]
  1. Change "di-replaceable fair use disputed" to "di-replaceable non-free use disputed"

Documentation

[edit]
  1. Change both occurrences of "{{subst:rfu}}" to "{{subst:rnfu}}"
  2. Change "{{di-replaceable fair use}}" to "{{di-replaceable non-free use}}"
  3. Change "{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed}}" to "{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed}}"

Thanks. -- Whpq (talk) 18:03, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request October 27, 2022

[edit]

The template Template:Deletable image-caption was moved to Template:Deletable file-caption back in January 2022. Even though the link {{Deletable image-caption}} still works and redirects to the proper page, it might be a good idea to update the this "rnfu" tempate and its documentation accordingly to avoid any possible confusion with names and also just in case the redirect somehow fails to work properly at some point. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:17, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Note: This is the wrong template. The template which displays this link is {{Deletable file}}. I made the change there. Terasail[✉️] 02:32, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake. Thanks for fixing this error. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:34, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
