Afrikaans is a Germanic language closely related to Dutch and is spoken in Southern Africa in the Republic of South Africa and Namibia. The language stems from 17th century Dutch and has been influenced by local African languages as well as languages spoken by other immigrants to the 17th century Cape region - German, French and Malay.

Are you traveling to South Africa? Well, Afrikaans is one of the languages of South Africa. If you know Dutch, you won't have a hard time learning Afrikaans. Even if you're English, Afrikaans won't be hard! Good luck!
