Udinese coach Fabio Cannavaro tried to console a heartbroken Eusebio Di Francesco on Sunday night as Frosinone’s loss and Empoli’s win over Roma sent the Ciociari to Serie B.

Frosinone were relegated to Serie B after losing 1-0 to Udinese on Sunday night. Like many fans in the stadium, the Ciociari boss, Di Francesco, broke into tears after the final whistle. Cannavaro and his brother Paolo tried to console EDF on the pitch, but the ex-Roma boss seemed inconsolable.

Frosinone had had a great first part of the season and even a draw would have allowed them to secure survival.

However, M’Baye Niang’s late goal in Empoli-Roma kept the Tuscans in Serie A, sending Frosinone to the second division for the first time.

Frosinone has never managed to secure survival in history, and President Maurizio Stirpe took responsibility in an interview at the end of the match.

  1. Can not believe some clubs still have faith in Di Francesco. One of the worst current coaches in Italy alongside Giampaolo.

  2. Di Francesco when at one time he was linked with Milan said: Milan? I’ll go where there’s no con-fu-sion….

He has found plenty of tranquility since….😩

  3. Omar maybe you’re right. However I didn’t like the way Roma played yesterday. I am very suspicious that some of the players didn’t give a dam 🤔 about the match. Sometimes you have to go deep into the matter and realise that something was wrong. I better shut up 🤬

  4. @stephen the players might realize CL was not for them. When a club relies on others’ results for CL qualification, it tells their mentality & quality.
