Juventus not only signed Carlos Alcaraz in the last two days of the January transfer window but also secured reinforcements from South America for their youth teams.

Alcaraz landed in Turin on Thursday evening, one day after Juventus confirmed his purchase on a loan deal with an option to buy from Southampton.

The Argentinean was the second and final January reinforcement for Massimiliano Allegri’s first team after Tiago Djalo, but the Old Lady also signed new players for their youth sector in the final hours of negotiations.

On January 31, they deposited the contracts of Pedro Felipe de Jesus Gomes and Francisco Barido. Pedro Felipe is a 19-year-old Brazilian centre-back who has moved to Turin on loan from Palmeiras U20 until June 2024. Juventus confirmed his purchase on their official website on January 31. He will play for Juventus’ NextGen, in Italy’s third division Serie C.

Barido, on the other hand, has joined the Serie A giants on a permanent transfer from Boca Juniors. The 16-year-old from Argentina is an attacking midfielder and according to Eurosport, he could move to Turin despite being under 18 as his parents already work in Italy. Barido is expected to feature for the U17 squad in the second part of the campaign.

Lastly, Juventus brought back to the club the versatile defender Diego Stramaccioni, 23, after a six-month loan at Reggiana, where he made four appearances across all competitions. Like Padro Felipe, Stramaccioni will also play in the NextGen squad until June.
