Anna Sabine has been elected the first Member of Parliament for the new Frome and East Somerset seat.

The result means Frome continues to have a Liberal Democrat MP, with Ms Sabine taking 16,580 votes.

She takes a 5,000 vote majority over second-placed Lucy Trimnell (Conservative).

David Swain came in third for Reform UK, narrowly edging out Labour's Robin Moss.

The results across Somerset leave the region with just one Conservative MP - in Bridgwater where Ashely Fox was elected - with all the other six seats going the way of the Lib Dems.

Frome and East Somerset results in full:

  • Anna Sabine (Lib Dem) - 16,580
  • Lucy Trimnell (Conservative) - 11,165
  • David Swain (Reform) - 6,441
  • Robin Moss (Labour) - 6,416
  • Martin Dimery (Green) - 5,083
  • Shaun Hughes (Ind) - 737
  • Gavin Heathcote (Ind) - 294
