With agriculture as a priority sector, Budget 2024 should focus on prioritising several critical areas, to boost crop output while ensuring sustainable farm practices. Firstly, promotion and investment in making farm mechanisation affordable, through home-grown technologies and solutions, tailored to Indian conditions is essential. To further empower farmers, there is much to be gained through the dissemination of progressive farm practices across the entire crop value chain, which can go a long way in improving Indian farming. Another very vital aspect is ensuring availability of inputs such as seeds, water and fertilisers, along with affordable institutional credit for small and marginal farmers. Finally, improving infrastructure for water management, post-harvest storage, as well as market accessibility, will play a pivotal role in doubling farm incomes: Mr Hemant Sikka, Co-Chair, FICCI National Agriculture Committee and President, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. #BudgetExpectation #BudgetWithFICCI Nirmala Sitharaman
About us
Established in 1927, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is the oldest, largest and the apex business chamber in India. Our history is closely interwoven with India's independence struggle and now with her emergence as one of the most rapidly growing economies globally. FICCI has contributed to this historical process by encouraging debate, articulating the private sector’s views and influencing policy. A non-government, not-for-profit organisation, FICCI is the voice of India’s business and industry. FICCI draws its membership from the corporate sector, both private and public, including SMEs and MNCs; FICCI enjoys an indirect membership of over 2,50,000 companies from various regional chambers of commerce. FICCI provides a platform for sector specific consensus building, networking and as the first port of call for Indian industry and the international business community.
