Poorly designed or time-consuming electronic health record user interfaces are a common and longstanding complaint among doctors and nurses when it comes to stressful aspects of their jobs that lead to burnout. By prioritizing the UX in HealthTech and testing it frequently with patients & healthcare workers, Clinical UX can help improve the overall efficiency and productivity of healthcare delivery. For example: A well-designed EHR system can streamline workflows, reduce administrative burdens, and enhance patient care. 💡Discover how seamless and intuitive EHRs can enhance expertise and improve patient  outcomes.   ✨https://lnkd.in/gFfS-7_4https://lnkd.in/g6QyTQii #HealthcareInnovation #EHR #NursePractitioner #PatientCare #UXUI #DesignThinking

Imagine waking up tomorrow and there is no AI. No ChatGPT, No Gemini, no DALL-E, No IBM Watson, No Google Assistant... Isn’t it fascinating how these AI-driven experiences have enmeshed themselves in our lives? To the point where it’s hard to imagine what life was like before them. The rise of AI in design is not just a passing trend; it is driving a paradigm shift in user interfaces. In my newsletter this week, I will explore the evolution of Intelligent User Interfaces (IUI) and how it's transformed the way we navigate the digital world. From the times of the clickety-clackety keyboards to chatbots and voice commands, it's nothing short of exciting to see where UI is headed next. What is the one distinguishing factor that differentiates companies with high UX maturity from those with low maturity? 🤔 Those with a high level of maturity dig deep into the ‘how of research’, understanding that it is just as crucial as actually doing the research. Here’s how product teams delve into the how of research: 🔐 ↳ 𝐆𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 — deeply integrate research into every stage of the product life cycle, from initial product discovery to post-launch evaluation. ↳ 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬 (e.g. quantitive research), such as group surveys and analytics, along with in-depth research (e.g. qualitative research), like interviews and observations, to gain a holistic understanding of your product and its users. The takeaway? When you incorporate research into every stage of your product design cycle, you become more adept at customer retention and increasing active user engagement, moving away from cost-saving outcomes to focus on value creation through continuous, customer-centric innovation. As per a report by Maze (https://lnkd.in/e3ejeTg5), companies with mature research practices are 1.9x more likely to report improved customer satisfaction. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫: If you can nail the research approach and increase the chances of identifying REAL insights, you’ll make better design decisions, significantly improving your organization’s UX maturity. #UXLeadership #UXUI #UXResearch #DesignThinking

When someone says: "You’ve crafted a great UX" Here's what they really mean: 1. Doctors now have time to grab a coffee between patients. 2. Patients don’t need a medical degree to use it. 3. Your support team never dreads a Monday morning. 4. Smart people want to work for you. 5. Users smile when they hear your notification chime. 6. Even Grandpa loves using it. 7. The hardest part of document collection is leaving the couch 8. You're the coolest booth at the conference. 9. Patients show up to appointments prepared and on time. “Crafting a great UX" for your HealthTech isn't about pretty fonts and button colors. It's the little choices that better the lives of your users, your team, and your community.

Designing complex B2B apps is different than designing for B2C and is invariably hard. ➜ Diverse Customer Segments: A single B2B app serves a broad spectrum of customers—individual practitioners, small clinics, and large hospitals—each segment with its own unique needs. Balancing these within one platform is no small feat. ➜ Catering to Different Roles: One screen catering to multiple personas with their unique needs. Imagine a scheduling screen used by front-desk nurses, physicians, and assisting nurses. Each role requires different features and workflows, making design a complex juggling act. ➜ Integration Challenges: Most B2B apps are required to work flawlessly with various legacy systems and third-party applications. The end-to-end user experience extends beyond the boundaries of a given app, demanding seamless integration and adaptability. ➜ Regulation & Security: B2B apps operate under stricter scrutiny than B2C. Meeting industry-specific regulations combined with robust security for sensitive data is crucial while trying to deliver a frictionless, smooth user experience. The stakes are high, and any misstep can lead to significant legal and financial consequences. ➜ Training & Onboarding: B2B apps are designed for specialized users and purposes. Tasks are often complex and intertwined with protocols and business processes, necessitating extensive training and handholding during onboarding. Without proper support, even the best-designed app can fall flat if users don’t fully understand how to leverage its capabilities. Designing for B2B isn’t just about making things work—it’s about making them work well across various contexts and users, allowing them to accomplish expert tasks in non-linear workflows. #B2BDesign #UXDesign #UserExperience #DesignThinking

A great product starts with a great MVP. In today's fast-paced tech world, understanding user needs quickly is crucial for product teams. That's where MVPs come in. As Eric Ries explains in The Lean Startup, the goal of an MVP is to validate key assumptions about the product idea and gain maximum learning with minimal effort. Here’s how product teams can make the most of the MVP approach: → Prioritize User research: Before diving into creating an MVP, conduct detailed user research to understand users' needs, challenges, and expectations. → Collaboration is key: Encourage close collaboration between design, engineering, and product teams to ensure a smooth and iterative development process. → Focus on core features: Instead of building a bare-bones MVP, develop core features that solve user problems and provide value. → Nurture continuous feedback loops: Regularly collect user feedback and use it to refine and improve your product. → Measure what matters: Identify and monitor metrics that truly reflect your product's goals and user needs, avoiding irrelevant metrics. For example, to tackle cardiovascular disease in rural communities with little access to high-quality emergency care. We designed a low-cost, highly effective MVP that leveraged existing tech infrastructure to help primary healthcare providers screen, test, and treat cardiovascular risk factors and diseases. Check out this iF Design Award-winning project here: https://lnkd.in/ehiBYETA Key takeaway? 💡Focus on what matters by validating your ideas quickly. Remember, you want progress, not perfection. Let’s discuss! How do you think product teams can best utilize the MVP approach? Share your thoughts in the comments! #MVP #ProductDevelopment #UserResearch #ProductManagement #LeanStartup #DesignThinking

Prioritize solving user problems over highlighting product features.   There are times when PMs tend to feel pressured to ship features quickly, which can occasionally lead to the release of subpar features that customers may not fully utilize. Focussing only on shipping features means: 1. You haven’t explored product opportunities nor validated your solution assumptions  2. Your product becomes too complicated to use. You’re constantly adding features without reviewing any. ✅ How can PMs avoid getting trapped in the vicious cycle of building features that nobody uses and start focusing on outcomes rather than output? 🔁 Practice Continuous Discovery: Continuously studying your customers and their user experience in parallel with ongoing development is important for identifying potential issues that the team can correct before shipping. 🔍 Align your Feature Development with Product Vision: Using the North Star metrics will guide the team to focus on the most important metric that will measure the success of your team and product. 📊 Measure Outcomes: Establish measurable objectives that tie back to business outcomes rather than just feature delivery. Focusing on creating features based solely on quantity rather than the value they bring does not drive product-led growth for companies. Instead, discover what to build based on functionality and its ability to solve users' problems. #ProductManagement #ProductDevelopment #ProductStrategy #CustomerExperience #ProductLedGrowth #FeaturePrioritization
