Haryana Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday said the BJP-led government created so much mess in the past ten years that it will be impossible to undo it in three months if and when the Congress returns to power.

Addressing party workers in Nuh, Hooda alleged that the failures of the BJP had come before the people. “Now, the BJP itself has accepted the failure of its schemes. Therefore, the government is taking a U-turn from all its plans, seeing defeat in the Assembly polls. BJP has now lost the right to repent, and the public is now going to punish it by ousting it from power,” he stated.

Hooda said the wheels of development will be set in motion again when a Congress government is formed in the state after Legislative Assembly elections will be held later in the year to elect 90 MLAs. “Elderly people will receive a monthly pension of Rs 6,000, and employees will benefit from the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). To alleviate the impact of inflation, 300 units of free electricity and LPG cylinders will be provided at the cost of Rs 500 per cylinder. To address unemployment, two lakh vacant positions will be filled, and proactive measures will be taken to stimulate investment and generate employment opportunities in the state,” he said.

Hooda thanked the people of the Mewat region for voting for Congress in large numbers in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and expressed hope that the party would get more support in the Assembly elections.

He announced that when the Congress government is formed, a new railway line will be laid in Mewat and a new university will be built in the area. He also promised that the Congress would take steps to end the staff shortage in Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, built during the Congress government, and schools in Mewat.

Festive offer

Hooda was accompanied by Haryana Congress President Udai Bhan and Congress’s Lok Sabha candidate from Gurgaon, Raj Babbar. Udai Bhan mentioned that Mewat was developed by the Congress in the past, and the party will continue to work for its progress it in the future. “The Congress built a medical college here in the name of Hasan Khan Mewati, but today, the BJP is not even providing full staff. As many as 60 per cent of posts are lying vacant in the medical college,” he said.

Babbar, who lost the Lok Sabha polls to the BJP’s Rao Inderjit Singh in Gurgaon, thanked the people of Mewat for their votes and support in the Lok Sabha elections. He said the Lok Sabha results clearly indicated that a Congress government would be formed in Haryana. “When the Congress forms the government, development, brotherhood and unity of all communities will be strengthened in the state,” he said.
