While the basic salaries of officers and employees of the above-mentioned three holding companies will be increased by 19 per cent, allowances will rise by 25 per cent.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at the Government Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai on Sunday.

Although the decision to hike salaries and allowances comes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, sources in the power ministry termed it as part of an ongoing process independent of the polls.
