The Election Commission of India (ECI) Monday allowed Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) to accept contributions from individuals and company on interim basis until the disposal of ongoing case in the Supreme Court.

“After having considered your letters dated 27.03.2024 and 04.04.2024, the ECI hereby authorizes, on an interim basis, ‘Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar’ to accept any amount of contribution voluntarily offered to it by any person or company other than a Government company,” said the ECI order dated July 8.

NCP (SP) leader and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule said that her party had sought the information for the same from the ECI.

“We were not allowed to accept cheques, neither we had any tax benefits. Now our request has been accepted,” she said.

Sule added that the party has also conveyed the confusion over the poll symbol that took place in Lok Sabha election and the ECI has assured to look into the matter.

Festive offer

The ECI has granted “man blowing turha” as a poll symbol to the NCP (SP). However, the confusion over this reportedly cost several votes to the party and even turned responsible for party losing the election in Satara seat due to a similar symbol of another candidate.
