As he began his Marathwada tour on Saturday to garner support for his Maratha agitation for reservation, activist Manoj Jarange Patil warned the BJP-led Mahayuti government that it will have to face serious consequences in the elections if it did not keep its word by July 13.
“If the government fails to keep its word of giving reservation in OBC category to the Maratha community, then it will face serious repurcussions during elections. We will ensure the defeat of its candidates,” Jarange Patil said while addressing a rally in Hingoli.
Targetting state minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Jarange-Patil said, “Reservation is not the monopoly of Bhujbal. If the government listens to Bhujbal and does injustice to Maratha community, then we will ensure that not a single candidate out of 288 of the government is elected. Government should take a wise decision..It should understand the anger of the Maratha community.”
“Maratha agitation is being carried out peacefully. We will carry on till we can tolerate. Politicians are trying to cause friction.. Some want violence, but we will have to thwart their designs,” he told the crowd.
Jarange Patil said, “I am fighting for the Maratha community, but it is trying to negate my efforts. I request the community to see through the government plan. I need the support of my community.”
