The National Testing Agency (NTA) on July 7 released the provisional answer key of CUET UG 2024.

In the official notice, the exam conducting agency has specified that the Agency will conduct a retest for CUET UG candidates from July 15 to 19 if any grievance raised by students about the conduct of the exam is found correct.

Students have been given time till 5 pm on June 9 to raise objections against the given provisional answer key, and also to raise grievances related to the CUEG UG 2024 exam, which is a gateway to undergraduate admissions in all Central government universities.

This announcement comes more than a month after the NTA got caught in controversies around the NEET UG 2024 result, which was released 10 days in advance of the scheduled date. While the result for the medical entrance exam was released in advance and has attracted demands for a retest, the CUET UG result has been delayed (as the scheduled date was June 30).

The CUET UG exam was conducted in a hybrid mode for the first time across the country, but was cancelled in Delhi a night before the exam, citing logistics issues. A similar cancellation took place in one centre of Kanpur where distribution of wrong question paper had sparked controversy.

Festive offer

NTA had conducted exam in pen and paper mode for 15 subjects and in computer based mode for the other 48 subjects. This was done to minimise the normalisation process. This year, over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the exam.

NTA has been facing heat since June 4 when the results of NEET UG 2024 were announced and several irregularities such as inflated number of top scorers, a wrong question and allegations of unfair grace marks and paper leak were noticed. Since then, NTA has had to cancel or postpone other exams too such as UGC NET, CSIR UGC NET and NCET. Following this, a high level committee has been formed by the Centre to look into the functioning of the NTA, while CBI is investigating allegations of paper leak.

Meanwhile, Centre also postponed NEET PG, and has now announced a new exam fate for the postgraduate medical entrance exam, which is conducted by NBEMS.
