Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the University of Mumbai has rescheduled the examination for the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). Earlier the examination was scheduled to take place on July 8, but now it will be conducted on July 13 in the first half, from 11 am to 2 pm.
“This is to inform you that due to the heavy rains, all the exams for CDOE (formerly IDOL) scheduled on July 8, 2024, have been postponed to July 13, 2024, in the first half, from 11 am to 2 pm.” read the official notification from the University of Mumbai. The time and venue will remain the same as mentioned in the MU admit card.
School education minister of Maharashtra Deepak Kesarkar has declared holiday to all schools and colleges in the Sindhudurg-Ratnagiri district of the state due to heavy rains. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) also declared a holiday for the second session of schools today. A holiday was declared for the first session of schools in the morning.
Mumbai city recorded over 300 mm of rainfall at various places in six hours from 1 am to 7 am today, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Some trains were also cancelled following heavy rains, according to the Central Railways.
Along similar lines, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that all the schools from pre-primary to Class 12 will remain closed today. The notification from the CM’s office further said that this order is only for schools and other government offices and everything else will function as per their regular schedule. Furthermore, he informed that the 80 people who were stranded at the waterfall had been rescued by the team of emergency services officials.

Speaking with new agency ANI, Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant said, “The Director of Education has been asked to issue a circular that there will be a holiday on Monday as a red alert has been declared, and due to this, all the schools of Goa from pre-primary to the 12 standard will remain closed today.”
