Four Army personnel died when militants ambushed their convoy in Jammu’s Kathua district on Monday afternoon, the latest in a series of attacks in the Union Territory.
Militants also hurled a grenade on the convoy, and several soldiers sustained injuries in the encounter too, sources said.
The incident took place at Badnota village in Lohai Malhar area, and sources said the encounter is still underway.
Sources said the soldiers immediately retaliated, and reinforcements have been rushed to the area.
This has been the second terror attack in Jammu division since Sunday morning, when a soldier was injured in an attack on an Army camp in Rajouri district’s Manjakote area.
In that attack, Arymmen guarding the camp had retaliated immediately, forcing militants to flee. The Army and police had then launched a massive search operation to trace gunmen in the area.
