‘Man of the Match’: Mumbai Police gives shout out to constable who saved unconscious woman at T20 World Cup 2024 victory parade

The viral video shows the police constable lifting the unconscious woman from the crowd and taking it her to a safe place.

On July 5, Mumbai saw a sea of cricket enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the T20 World Cup 2024 winning team India. A video of the victory parade went viral wherein a cop was seen helping an unconscious woman. Mumbai Police on Monday gave a shout-out to police constable Salim Pinjari whose timely intervention saved the life of the woman at Marine Drive.

Sharing the video of the incident on Instagram, Mumbai Police wrote, “PC Saeed Salim Pinjari is our real ‘Man Of The Match’ during the #VictoryParade bandobast. His first-person account, of taking care of a sea of people and assisting a woman who was spotted losing consciousness. #AlwaysOnDuty #MumbaiPolice4All.”

The viral video shows Pinjari lifting the unconscious woman trapped in the crowd. “I am Saeed Salim Pinjari. During the bandobast, me and my fellow constable saw a lady losing consciousness. We rushed towards her. We picked her up and took her to a place where she could breathe comfortably. We offered her water and chocolates. Till the time she regained consciousness, we were beside her. We took her to nearby ambulance.  It was God’s blessing and result of our training. God gave me the strength that day, to fulfill my duty. I am proud to be a part of Mumbai Police,” Pinjari said in the video.

Shared on July 7, the video garnered over 33,000 views as social media users hailed the police constable. Reacting to it, a user wrote, “Salute to your service.” Another user commented, “Timely action by Mumbai Police.Congratulations to PC Saeed  Salim Pinjari.”

“This is the real spirit of Mumbai. Salute to the man in uniform,” a third user reacted.

A day after the victory parade, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) collected a whopping 11,500 kg (11.5 metric tonne) of waste along the Marine Drive stretch. According to the civic body, the waste, which comprised recyclable materials like shoes and slippers, was sent for reprocessing.
