Mumbai rains: Waterlogged streets, flood-like situation in several parts. Watch

Heavy rain lashed Maharashtra’s Mumbai between 1 am to 7 am today, leading to waterlogging and flood-like situations in several areas of the city. Residents flocked to social media to share videos of the commuters struggling to move and submerged vehicles.

In one of the viral videos, several two-wheelers can be seen on the flooded road. As the video progresses, a commuter and a stray dog walk through the knee-deep water. Sharing the video, an X user wrote, “Welcome to the financial capital of #India #Mumbai. This is what development means,this is what Mumbaikar deserves.”

In another video, shared by ANI, pedestrians and vehicles can be seen crossing a waterlogged street at King’s Circle in Mumbai. Sharing the video, the news agency wrote, “Pedestrians and vehicles cross heavily waterlogged streets at King’s Circle amid rains in Mumbai. A commuter says, “My car is stuck on the road. There is no point in blaming the government for the rains. The government is doing its job.”

Meanwhile, train services were disrupted due to heavy rain and waterlogging between Khadavli and Titwala in the Kalyan-Kasara section on Sunday. In a video, railway tracks between Wadala and GTB stations can be seen flooded. “Waterlogged railway tracks between Wadala and GTB stations. Mumbai has recorded over 300 mm of rainfall from 1 am to 7 am today. More rain is expected during the day as well,” ANI wrote.

The pedestrian underpass at Vile Parle East was also waterlogged due to heavy rainfall. In a viral video, several commuters can be seen walking carefully through the knee-deep water.

Mumbai saw extreme rainfall exceeding 300 mm at multiple locations, causing waterlogging and disrupting suburban train services in low-lying areas. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Maharashtra is expected to get intense rain for three to four days.
