PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

NEW IBERIA, La. — Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle deadly crash on Louisiana Highway 86 near Marshfield Road in Iberia Parish on Thursday, June 20, shortly after 7 p.m.

The crash claimed the life of Brenton Robertson, 35, of St. Martinville.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Robertson was westbound on LA Hwy 86 while driving a 2012 Dodge Durango.

For reasons still under investigation, the Durango traveled off the roadway to the right and struck a tree.

Robertson was unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced dead on the scene. 

A standard toxicology sample was collected from Robertson and submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troop I has investigated 17 fatal crashes resulting in 18 deaths in 2024.
