This page collects requests for deleting specific articles from Wikisource. If you want a page deleted for copyright reasons please list it at Wikisource:Possible copyright violations. If you think a page should be deleted for any other reason, please list it here so it can be discussed. Articles remaining on this page should be deleted if there is no significant opposition. Use {{delete}}.

If requesting deleting any pages to be moved to language subdomains, please try to have edit history imported to the destinations. Asking any active importers or administrators there is preferred. Otherwise, global sysops and stewards may be able to import.

Some short pages

Some short, out of scope, probably test, pages: Kabila, Page:Bali-lontar-panebasan-wuku-300ppi.pdf/1, ყბაჩამ დაიგვიანა, Коръән тәфсире (Ногмани)/Маидә (Аш Яулыгы) сүрәсе, រដ្ឋធម្មនុញ្ញនៃរដ្ឋកម្ពុជា, Polimie, è grand eccès, di crudeltat, 96 Sureya Eleq an Ferkera Bixwîne, 68 Sureya Qelem an Ferkera Pênûs, The millets

This one is in Hindi: HANUMANASHTAK and seems out of scope, no source, no author, no license, etc.

This one is in French: Histoire du necronomicon, H-P Lovecraft, and seems out of scope (summary of Necronomicon).

This one is in Spanish: Ley de prestacion de servicios inmobiliarios del distrito federal, a Mexican law. No source, so I won't move it to es.source.

And 2 talk pages of non existent users, also broken redirects: User talk:Tigresa2019 and User talk:Alexlur.

Best regards, -jkb-. And keep safe! -Aleator 20:30, 6 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

A few more:
Bye! -Aleator 20:55, 6 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
OK, thanks, I have a look at it tomorrow. But, we have, I'm afraid, dozens or hundreds of such pages here :-( -jkb- (talk) 22:11, 6 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I took the liberty to delete what was clearly deleteable. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 06:20, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I went ahead and deleted the other three as well. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 12:41, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would expect an explanation in English about Confimed users, not one single sentence in Spanish. If you have a look at Special:UserGroupRights, you can see that more rights are connected to confirmed users than just uploading files. This page seems not to be very helpful. --Ameisenigel (talk) 17:43, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

But, however, I don't see any reason to delete the page. You are fully free to translate it into English :-) -jkb- (talk) 21:14, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

大医精诚

I guess this page is out of scope here (+ obviously self translation), might be the English wikisource could take it, - ?? -jkb- (talk) 13:54, 24 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Done deleted as not appropriate here, -jkb- (talk) 09:58, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Cannot take it to English Wikisource while unsure when, where and who translated from Chinese to English.--Jusjih (talk) 00:01, 24 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

August 2021

This file contains 2 volumes of the periodical 'Progreso'. I think it should be deleted and the volumes added separetely with their original names (Tomo VIII and Tomo IX instead of 8a Yaro).

Also I’m not sure of the copyright status. The volumes were not published in 1908 as mentioned in the description of the file, but in 1931 and 1932. Rosacentifolia (talk) 17:08, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

If there is a reason to split the file, anyone is free to do it. Also, feel free to fix the description if necessary. Copyright doubts may be a reason for deletion by they need to be raised more precisely. Ankry (talk) 17:25, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi, not sure how to handle this. Is there a way to split the existing file ? Or should I re-upload a split version of it ?
The only infos I have regarding the copyright are the publishing dates written on the covers, 1931 and 1932, and the year of death of some of the contributors : 1969 for S. Bakonyi, 1999 for A. Matejka. I don't know if that’s enough to prove copyright infringement. Rosacentifolia (talk) 21:43, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Article "Язык - как канал познания" from "Erzyan Mastor" newspaper

The article:

It should be deleted from the Wikisource because seemingly it is not free-licensed. Actually it was written by Erzyan linguist Dimtry Tsygankin (Цыганкин, Дмитрий Васильевич in the Russian Wikipedia, there is no an English Wikipedia article on him at this moment), though his authorship was not signed in the article (proposed here for deletion) itself, but indication of his authorship was provided in the next newspaper issue — article Эрзянь Мастор/2003/20/Язык - как канал познания, a quote from it, in translation to English: "In "EM" No. 170 a mistake was made — the name of the author of this article was not indicated. ... We ask Dmitry Vasilyevich and readers to forgive us for this fault." Notwithstanding the decision of the owners of the newspaper that all the materials of the newspaper are licensed under CC BY 4.0, this decision applies only to works by staff employees of the newspaper, and cannot be applied to articles originated from independent persons outside the staff, whose copyrights are not owned by the newspaper. This author does not work as staff member for the nespaper — at least, we have no evidences for this; also we have no evidences that he submitted the copyright to the newspaper, or released the article under a free license; so far the article currently should be deleted. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. --Nigmont (talk) 18:37, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I think I agree with a deletion. -jkb- (talk) 22:38, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Uploaded and edited by two users in 2005 whose only edits are here on this file. There is no description or license info whatsoever and it is not being used anywhere, so I cannot see any possible use for this file at all. Dylsss (talk) 16:37, 18 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Clean up Hungarian MediaWiki messages

I’d like to have the following approximately 300 Hungarian MediaWiki messages deleted:

Some of them are simply not used anymore, and thus completely useless (e.g. MediaWiki:already_sysop/hu has been unused for at least a decade). Some are basically, but not entirely, the same as what comes with the software (translated at translatewiki.net), so they don’t contain extra value, but at least make the interface inconsistent across wikis (e.g. MediaWiki:showtoc/hu: neither “mutat” (local) nor “megjelenítés” (software default) is better, but the difference causes that the table of contents has a different toggle text here than on other wikis). Some are outdated (e.g. MediaWiki:passwordremindertext/hu lacks parameters $4 and $5). Some are actually broken (e.g. MediaWiki:previousdiff/hu uses an HTML character escape, which seems not to be allowed there). Thanks in advance! —Tacsipacsi (talk) 18:42, 18 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

We might need to look at this on a more broader way. Judging from Special:AllPages, especially Danish, French and Japanese seem to have many of these messages too. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 20:08, 16 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
We might, but someone speaking those languages should review the list—I went through the messages one by one, skipped those that contain useful Wikisource-specific modifications (e.g. MediaWiki:aboutsite/hu agglutinates ‘Wikisource’ and would be different on other projects) and adjusted the Translatewiki versions when necessary. Deleting the Hungarian messages also declutters the list (making the MediaWiki namespace list three pages long instead of four), which helps further cleanup. So I think it makes sense to delete the Hungarian ones now and focus on other ones later. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 23:04, 16 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I agree :) Unfortunately, my proficiency in Danish, French and Japanese is too low as well, so maybe somebody else is around to check them? --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 13:29, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Done for the Hungarian messages with the exception of two (MediaWiki:Copyright/hu and MediaWiki:History copyright/hu). For some reason they are protected and cannot be edited nor deleted by me. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 09:18, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! Those two messages can contain raw HTML (it’s not escaped before displaying them), and it looks like only interface administrators can delete them. Do you know how to reach interface admins? I’m not very comfortable mass-pinging all five here. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 21:29, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
at least @Ankry: and @Zyephyrus : are still aktive here. -jkb- (talk) 21:49, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
These two deleted. Ankry (talk) 06:51, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thank you all! :) --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 12:38, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
