Master of Science in Mathematics

The Master of Science in Mathematics is a flexible program offering four specializations (see degree requirements):

  • Mathematics
  • Applied Mathematics
  • Mathematics for Decision and Engineering Sciences
  • Data Science

Placement

Most of our Mathematics MS graduates go on to work in industry and some continue in academia for further graduate studies. A sample of recent full-time job placements in industry is given below.

Financial Support

NSM McDermott MS Admission Fellowship is offered to support highly qualified MS students. This fellowship is awarded on a competitive basis at the time of admission. All applicants are automatically considered for this fellowship, and a separate application is not required. Nonresidents of the State of Texas who receive this fellowship are also eligible to be considered for a Competitive Scholarship Waiver. This waiver enables them to pay tuition at the resident rate, but its granting is not assured.
