Global bot status requests

DeGifBot

DeGifBot: A bot to remove Gifs and replace with WebM. Gifs are a lot slower and bulkier than webm's. THere should be alot of cost savings to wikipedia. I am writing a bot that can do this site wide. (talk)

Not done Regardless of the fact that the bot's account does not exist yet, we cannot possibly grant this bot global bot status, as only bots which work on interwiki or fix double redirects are allowed to have this right, as detailed on Global bot policy. We do not have a bureaucrat at the project yet. This bot has been doing great job at ca.wikipedia along 2 years and it has been tested in our project correctly. Xavier D. (Talk!) 16:17, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

On hold until 28 November (5 days). --MF-W 10:39, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Tildebot@viwikisource

Five contributors other than me supporting, none opposing. (One supporter was struck out for not having any other edits at all. The remaining users represent the vast majority of activity on the site in the past couple years.) Tildebot has been useful for certain kinds of mechanical edits, such as correcting pervasive typos like "Ð" instead of "Đ", as well as mass-moving pages. For example, we recently found a higher-resolution, more complete scan of s:vi:Từ điển Việt–Bồ–La. We couldn't simply upload a new version of the file under the same name, because it was large enough to require a chunked upload. Additionally, the pages were offset in various places because missing pages had been filled in. So we used Tildebot to move each individual proofread page (in the Page: namespace) to the corresponding page under the new PDF. Work like this can be sped up significantly with a flag. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 08:55, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
