This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.

 • Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
 • If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
 • For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page

1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:

Username@xxproject
(your remarks) ~~~~

2. Fill in the values:

 • domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
 • user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
 • discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

OrsolyaVirág@wm2014

Hi,

I would like to ask for a sysop flag @ Wikimania 2014 for administrative reasons. I am one of the deputy program chairs of the event and I would like to delete and protect some pages, especially that the sudmission time will end in 5 weeks. James Forrester couldn't help me with this since he only has a sysop flag there. Pls grant the access as soon as possible.

I would also like to ask the same permission for the other deputy chair, Deror avi. (He asked me privately to request this on behalf of him.)

Thank you in advance! --OrsolyaVirág (talk) 18:01, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

عبیربٹ@ks.wikipedia.org

There doesn't seem to be much activity on Kashmiri Wikipedia. I would like admin permissions so that I can improve it. I am trying to get people to translate article into Kashmiri language. I use ubaierbhat as the User:Ubaierbhat for the english wikipedia. Thanks عبیربٹ (talk) 14:04, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Dear عبیربٹ, thanks for your interest in helping out at the Kashmiri Wikipedia. However, you don't seem to be active on that project yourself: you've performed five edits on that wiki in November 2012 and there haven't been any contributions since. Furthermore, from my point of view, it remains unclear why you'd need admin permissions. You can also contribute (edit, translate, et cetera) without additional user rights. If needed, you can ask global sysops and stewards for administrator help on the Kashmiri Wikipedia. Mathonius (talk) 14:30, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. I understand what you are saying. The site is very confusing. The problem is that the current admins have not been active for this wiki for a long time (2010). There are not many people who can read or write Kashmiri. Its mostly a spoken language. Even I am not very good at it. There are no proper tools to write Kashmiri on a computer. I thought as an admin I will take some ownership of the project and maybe work towards bringing more people to help. I have tried to go to local university but old folks there are not intersted. They don't know how to use computes. Thank you for your advice about global sysops and stewards عبیربٹ (talk) 05:27, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As a side note, admins who are inactive for over 2 years will be removed soon through m:AAR. --Rschen7754 05:28, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

phurbutsering@bo.wikipedia.org

bo.wikipedia.org got problem with its font, its interface and articles display very small, I thought it need change, which suit with tibetan wikipedia and its own characteristics, many other language wikipedia, even some small language community wikipedia got their own common.css, which suit with their own font, and special features. if we don't improve that interface, Specially left side menu and right top menu, many people are asking about it again and again. also many people lost interest with contributing articles and file on our local wikipedia. I prepare few page for help as: https://bo.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Questions but still look small with coding big font. I am just applying for few weeks permission, so that i can improve few basic error in tibetan wikipedia. if possible we need help from some technical people, who can active on tibetan wikipedia.
At now its very difficult to find who can worthy as admin, we need to improve many template and box. normally i was working on translating wiki, tibetan portal. but i found its not meaningful till interface error are solve and make few new interesting template, also its very lack with discussion, because of lack with admin, who can organize and setup few groups, there is no good information for new comer. I am trying send them personally message, but lack of authorization, i can't do. i thought to ask you for advice on how to setup some basic information for new comer, many new comer lost interest here, lack of proper tutorial and help. for example i visit there at dz.wikipedia.org, which is dzongka wikipedia, they share same font as us, but their interface looking much more perfect than us, because of bigger font. actually our main page got more information than them. also this tibetan wikipedia main page was design by me and i know it lacking lot with comparing other wikipedia, so i hope you can give me any suggestion and advice regarding improving interface and visual design,

Please start a discussion with your local community. --Rschen7754 18:48, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton@pt.wikinews

Hello, it's been a week since I opened the discussion, but this community is abandoned, for now. I made several requests to unlock pages that are outdated or unnecessarily blocked, and I was not heeded. There will be an increase in the volume of issues in the coming days because of a project, that I'm running, to assemble original materials on Wikinews-pt. And there is no Lusophone administrator taking care of the community today, you can see the spam deletions reports [3] Category speedy deletation and the complete lack of actualization, discussion, answers... So I need a sysop tool to update some Help pages blocked, remove spams, lock publish pages (normal to the WN), etc... As you can see, I'm ´practically the only guy doing something in the community, for this days. Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 10:41, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Stewards: please, see my comment on request at Wikinews. Érico Wouters msg 11:54, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Personal issues do not count as a argument, if you were competent in you work and was confident, I would not be here asking for the tools.
I'm a OTRS volunteer since 2009 and no one complained about my behaviour, the same in Commons that I'm away more active than in wp, that I'm a checker there...
He commented about Wikivoyage... well, I'm the guy who fight to pt-wy be on air, the only one...
I don't need sysop tools to, I don't know, talk with others (I think that's the main concern), I need the tools to raise (clean up, update, fix...) the community. And, look all blocks Teles, Teles, Teles... in WY on inexpedient sysop blocked me and he was reprimanded because of that, and the other was a request made by... yes, Teles, who is friend of the dude above. Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 12:21, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not done per this issue. --Vituzzu (talk) 12:29, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What?
What this have to do if the request of use sysop tools is to improve one community?
And I had sad before, this was a chapter wiki, that have a whole different rules, we can close the wiki just to selected persons, as it.wikimedia.org, that's just a pointer, and no steward have the authority there...
For proposal of WUG, the Meta is the wiki to do that.
Will you get to do all that sysops have not done? Like unlock multiple pages, make more frequent cleaning, modify the MediaWiki domain when getting outdated (that I request to check the bit and took weeks to make.), ... ? Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 12:49, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
PS:Alias, did you realised that the "sysop" there had time to wrote a text about me and did not have time to do the cleaning?
Can you please rephrase? Most of your words are not understandable (it's a literal translation, I assume). Anyway, in short, you abused your sysop rights at br.wikimedia, then it's not safe to give you adminship on a project without an active community. --Vituzzu (talk) 13:19, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ad hominem to reduce the importance of my text... nice (I assume).
"What?" = Che cosa? = interjection questioning the argument used to substantiate your act.
"What this have to do if the request of use sysop tools is to improve one community?" = What is the relation between my act on a chapter wiki to the request to use sysop tools to improve one content wiki?
"And I had sad before, this was a chapter wiki, that have a whole different rules, we can close the wiki just to selected persons, as it.wikimedia.org, that's just a pointer, and no steward have the authority there... " = I already told you that a chapter wiki is not a content wiki that Stewards have a free pass. And as a example of that, it.wikimedia.org, that is a website that redirect to another one that do not allow the creation of accounts, stewards interventions, free editions...
"For proposal of WUG, the Meta is the wiki to do that." = For the proposal to create a Wikimedia User Group, br.wikimedia.org is not the adequate Wiki to expose this project. To do that, they had to do that on meta.wikimedia.org like any other WUG did, and have to do.
"Will you get to do all that sysops have not done? Like unlock multiple pages, make more frequent cleaning, modify the MediaWiki domain when getting outdated (that I request to check the bit and took weeks to make.), ... ? " = Did you will cover the gap let by the Wikinews-pt sysops? As they are not using the administrative tools to do the maintenance, and there is a list of tasks that they are not doing. Exemplifying, I made request of unblocking pages, and they don't give answers; we have ~10 (approximately 10) pages with a spam tag, no deletation from a lusophone sysop since January; the pages under "MediaWiki:" NAMESPACE was outdated since 2010, I had to do the request to they change that, and this took me 3 weeks.
"PS:Alias, did you realised that the "sysop" there had time to wrote a text about me and did not have time to do the cleaning? " = Post-scriptum (is writing added after the main body of a letter or other body of writing. More at:Postscript): Someone who saw this thread noticed that the person with the administrative tools had time to write a text about me, but not had any time to do the cleaning?
I hope you're satisfied. Remember that Wikinews-pt is a community that speaks Portuguese, is not prerequisite to know write in English, so this position is not valid for this discussion.
And again, the argument used do not make any-sense. As chapters community are totally different, and I did not blocked the permission to change the content, I blocked the structure. More than that, if I remember correctly, you could not have intervened, since you are part of the Italian chapter that is a member of Iberocoop that was forcing the Brazilian chapter to become a WUG, which characterizes conflict of interest. Alias, I was administrator of br.wm, for 4 years, with, let's say, one "mistake"? 4 years one mistake, we can compare with you and see who have more "mistakes"/year?
And if the concern is abuse towards other volunteers, with whom I would be in contact? And do you really think someone who has dedicated the last four months to raise the community will do something to degrade his on effort? And tell me what "abuse" that you can not reverse? I just want removed things are waging the development of improvements. Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton m 14:27, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

<translate>

 • If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
 • To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
