This page hosts requests for global (un)blocks, (un)locks and hidings.

If you are here because you have been blocked by a global block, and believe that the block is in error or you have not done anything wrong, there are a few methods through which you can appeal:

 • If the IP is not currently blocked on meta, you can post a request to this page following the instructions below to have the IP unblocked.
 • If the IP is currently blocked on meta, you can post an appeal on your talk page. For maximum effectiveness, link to the username of the steward who globally blocked the IP address using the code USERNAME so that they are pinged by it.
 • If you are editing from an account and have been caught by a global IP block that is unlikely to be removed (i.e. because it is an open proxy or because of long-term abuse), you can request an individual exemption from the block at the requests for global permissions page. Please see the section on global IP block exemptions on that page for specific instructions for making a request.
 • If none of those options work, you are free to email us at stewards@wikimedia.org.

Note: (un)blocks apply to IP addresses; and (un)locks apply to global accounts

Requests for global (un)block

<translate>

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:

Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions.
Please also review Global blocking . Only IP addresses can be globally blocked at this moment. Please see <tvar name=gl>#Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding</tvar> if your request involves an account.
Global blocks don't affect Meta-Wiki, so if your IP address is blocked, you can still appeal here. IP addresses that cause disruption on Meta should be reported at Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat instead of here so that they can be blocked locally.</translate>
<translate> Please describe the kind of cross wiki abusive activity you see from the IP. Saying an IP is a long term abuser is not helpful, but saying "IP vandalizes at ban.wikipedia, no.wikipedia and vi.wikipedia" is. This is especially important for range blocks. If you do not provide enough details, your request might be declined.</translate>
<translate> Instructions for making a request</translate>

<translate> Before requesting, make sure that:

 1. You know the IP address(es) you wish to have globally blocked or unblocked.
 2. For blocks, the global blocking criteria are met.
 3. For unblocks, your request addresses the original reason for blocking the IP, if any.

To make a request for the address(es) to be blocked or unblocked

Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain why the address(es) should be blocked/unblocked.</translate>

Global unblock for 65.49.14.139

Status:    anonymous only, enWP has local block which stewards cannot circumvent

I have used two accounts on Wikipedia (both of which are retired), and planned on starting a third when this message popped up: "Your IP address has been blocked on all wikis.

The block was made by Ajraddatz (meta.wikimedia.org). The reason given is Abused open proxy..

Start of block: 16:30, 26 March 2014 Expiry of block: 16:42, 11 March 2015 Your current IP address is 65.49.14.139." First of all, I was able to edit after the block had started, and I have not abused my accounts in any way, shape, or form. This is the second time I have encountered this issue and would like it to be fixed. Thanks! --65.49.14.139 16:02, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your IP is blocked as a part of a global rangeblock on 65.49.0.0/17, which has many open ports and much abuse has come from it. The block is anonymous only, so if you have an account then you'll be able to edit still. If you need an account (though you suggested you had two already), you could request one from the account creation system since enwiki is where you want to edit from. Ajraddatz (talk) 19:37, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Ajraddatz! This has gotten frustrating in that it has happened twice to me in the past month or so. For some reason, my IP keeps switching to those of abusers or vandalizers. Anyways, I'll try that, thanks! 65.49.14.140 20:13, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Ajraddatz Well, I logged into one of my accounts, and tried to edit, but I'm still blocked. Is there anything else I can do (I have made a request with the account creation system, btw)? Apollo828 (talk) 20:42, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
The IP range is also blocked locally. You'll need to request local exemption though the unblock ticket request system at w:WP:UTRS. Sorry for the complicated process :S Ajraddatz (talk) 20:50, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Global block/unblock for User:91.121.104.199

Status:    partly done, converted to a soft block

why my request is not processed?

I have converted the hard block (for the IP range) from a hard block to a soft block. That will require you to have a WMF account to be able to edit, there will still not be the availability to edit anonymously from that range at this time.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:49, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Merci beaucoup!

Global lock for my IP

Status:    not done, please reopen if you have further detail

I am new in wikipédia.

I took a very long time to try to enhance an article (fr:indice boursier) I wrote using the same IP than my user's name.

Please explain what I made wrongly to be blocked...

--Rosa Bonheur (talk) 05:56, 19 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

The only IP you edited from is not globally-block, as far as I searched, not even in fr.wp, where you edited. It is possible that your IP is range blocked. Can you post what's the block message is? Bennylin 07:29, 19 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Why am I blocked? I am new to this website and I edited (en:Eric Campbell) and (fr:Jurickson Profar).

cross-wiki abuse (twin town vandal) --Controlling (talk) 14:46, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have put a block in place for a day, though I don't know the vandalism, though I can see xwiki editing. If there is a page that explains a series of vandalism then it is worth linking to it, or putting a longer explanation of the issues of the editing. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 15:10, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Will add a longer explanation next time (or create a documentation page here on en.wikipedia). --Controlling (talk) 15:12, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your IP address is not blocked. Otherwise, you have not provided sufficient information for us to attend to this request. If you wish for assistance you will need to include the full block message. It is possible that the wiki where you were editing has blocked you locally (username or account) and if that is the case then you should request attention to the matter there.  — billinghurst sDrewth 16:18, 31 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Global unblock for 141.76.45.35

Status:    done; account login required to edit

I am a new user and find myself blocked from editing. please unblock me. --141.76.45.35 17:48, 4 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your IP is part of range 141.76.45.34/31, which has historically hosted a bunch of open proxies (see the policy). If you'd like to edit, please create an account and I'll exempt you from the global block. @Vituzzu: does that range even need to still be blocked? You blocked it in 2011 for 5 years, but I can't even confirm that it has open ports any more. Ajraddatz (talk) 22:01, 4 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
It is a university IP, and spam sites don't show it being abused, I reckon we can take the chance that it is clean enough to convert to a soft block, which I have done, so now only a login should be required to edit  — billinghurst sDrewth 16:20, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Global unblock for 151.12.58.2

my account and IP 151.12.58.2 have been globally blocked today by the administrator Vito, who wants to fight user Tamburellista, but I got to do? While the administrator Tnxman307 wants to fight user Ragusino, but I got to do? My account Sghezza is globally locked since this my post user talk:Tnxman307#Unblock. What's happen? I consider globally block a mistake! I did only few edits in Italian version and never did edit in other version-language: see here! IP 151.12.58.2 is used by several users: see here! --Sghezza (talk) 15:48, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Account was unlocked a day or so ago, so I have amended this request. The IP address is still blocked, and I will have to let someone with some more current knowledge deal with it.  — billinghurst sDrewth 16:13, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Unblocked Sghezza on en:wp per Ajraddatz, I'll monitor there. I also don't see any global spam by the IP; was it deleted? SJ talk  23:29, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
I don't see any mentions of the IP having been blocked for cross-wiki spam so I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to, SJ. Snowolf How can I help? 23:31, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict with below) @Snowolf, Sj. Brief history. Sghezza mistakenly appealed a local enwiki block here. The account was then globally locked, (crosswiki abuse: tamburellista) The IP appealed on meta. Ajraddatz found the enwiki block and global lock were probably in error, and unlocked. The IP was then globally blocked, (Long-term abuse: Tamburellista). Tamburellista = "Tambourine player," likely = "spammer" or "promoter." Sj just unblocked Sghezza on Wikipedia, however, the IP is still blocked, so Sghezza will not be able to edit, unless it is unblocked or Sghezza is given IP block exemption. However, the IP belongs to the w:Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (Italy). --Abd (talk) 00:13, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Tamburellista is the name given to a long-term abuser, who alternates between editing sports and history-related articles on enwiki/itwiki and harassing certain users. As I mentioned below, the behavioural evidence does match (after being shown further examples than I had found), though with the exception that there are no other apparent socks at the moment. As such, it could be a false positive. Ajraddatz (talk) 00:37, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Please unblock this IP as soon as you can, as noted above by Adb that's one of the out-facing IP addresses of the Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali in Italy - that means blocking thousands of people from editing. I found myself blocked this morning to my surprise. --Steko (talk) 08:49, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Just a note that I've discussed this with Vituzzu (stewards see ML), and do agree that there is behavioural similarities which could suggest sockpuppetry, though not with the other accounts that he was blocked with on enwiki. That said, there is no indication of any other socks, and Sghezza hasn't been very disruptive - I'd be OK with giving them some rope and seeing what comes of it. Worst case scenario we can lock/block again, best case we've allowed a good user to return. Ajraddatz (talk) 23:43, 11 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding

Note that global blocking currently only applies to IPs, due to a technical limitation. If you wish to request a named account for global [un]locking, please request a global [un]lock here instead. Be sure to follow the instructions below:
 • Your request might be rejected if it doesn't include the necessary information.
 • Warning! This page is publicly viewable. If the account name is grossly insulting or contains personal information please contact a steward privately in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect or email your request to the stewards VRT queue at stewards-oversight@wikimedia.org (direct wiki interface) but do not post it here. Thanks.
 • Warning! This is not the place to ask for locks based on your opinion that someone is disruptive. Global locks are used exclusively against vandalism and spam, not because of content disputes, not because you think that someone deserves to be globally blocked. In such cases, you should ask for local blocks at appropriate places.
 • If you are globally locked, you should appeal your lock to stewards-appeals@wikimedia.org.

Please describe abusive activity of an account before reporting them here. Since stewards are often not active at projects the reported accounts are, things that seem obvious to you may not be equally obvious to the reviewing steward.

Instructions for making a request

Before requesting that a global account be (un)locked, please be sure that:

 1. You have evidence of cross-wiki disruption from the account(s).
 2. You can show that it is not feasible to use local-only blocks or other measures like page protection to combat the disruption.
 3. You have considered making the request in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect, especially for account names which will be hidden, or for urgent requests.
To make a request for an account to be locked or unlocked
Copy one of the codes below to the bottom of this section and explain why the account(s) should be locked/unlocked.

Hi, @EmrahÖ:, are you sure this is not you? We could unblock you, but your username would be added to watchlist. If any vandalism done using that username in the future, the block would be permanent. Please confirm that you would take future responsibility with this username, including changing password routine, etc. Bennylin 16:10, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Apparently this is a location in "Turkish Kurdistan" with also a traditionally high population of Armenians (see w:Muş). I do not see why adding the Kurdish translation was reverted. PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:16, 30 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi Bennylin, yes I was this, but I don't vandalized the page I only added the Kurdish names of the provinces in the Kurdish inhabited areas, Turkish Kurdistan. I don't vandalized the pages but some users have vandalized the pages by permanently reverting the Kurdish names of the Kurdish inhabited areas, I think because of their political ideology. If you look at the View histories of the said pages you will see whom I mean. So I don't vandalized the pages and therefore I think that I was treated unfairly, but nevertheless I will be more carefully in the future times. I hope that something like that will not happen in future. So please unlock my account. Greetings! EmrahÖ (talk) 15:56, 04 June 2014 (UTC+2) @Bennylin:
