Kia ora tātou. My apologies if this is the wrong place for this, but I'm not sure where else to put it. In the earlier days of this wiki (mostly 2004/2005-ish), I did a limited amount of simple backroom work with the wiki interface (all most likely supplanted by now). As a result, I was given administrator and bureaucrat status here by User:Robin Patterson. However, none of that is necessary now (if it ever was), and my knowledge of the language isn't sufficient for me to actually contribute content to any meaningful extent (or else I wouldn't be writing this in English, naturally). Also, endorsement from a single other user doesn't exactly constitute the broad community support that a bureaucrat really ought to have. As such, I propose to go to the Wikimedia stewards and ask them to revoke my status as both bureaucrat and admin. As per the requirements for requesting steward actions, I'm raising the issue for discussion here first. Assuming there's no objection (and I'm not expecting one...) I'll make the request in a week or so. -- Vardion 04:50, 17 Ākuhata 2011 (UTC)

:Actually, never mind waiting. Having looked at the relevant pages, it seems that requests for removal of one's own permissions are an exception to the rule about gaining community consensus first (since the voluntary removal of admin status isn't likely to be disputed). I'll make the request right away, but leave this here just as a notification that it's happening. -- Vardion 05:07, 17 Ākuhata 2011 (UTC)

Waitohu/logo of the Māori wikipedia

Kia ora tātou. There's vote on File talk:Wiki.png about a change in the wording of the main logo of the Māori wikipedia. I propose to change Te mātāpunenga utukore to Te Mātāpunenga Wātea. Last year a user pointed out that the word utukore means free in the monetary sense, and said the right translation would be wātea, meaning free/unrestricted/open, ie for anyone to edit. Totally correct, but nothing was done about it at the time. With a new version about to be rolled out with the change to the Vector skin, this is a good time to sort it out. 2010 Fundraising Is Almost Here

Hello Wikipedians, I am Kelly and I am working for the Wikimedia Foundation during the 2010 Fundraiser. My job is to be the liaison between your community and the Foundation. This year's fundraiser is intended to be a collaborative and global effort; we recognize that banner messages which may perform well in the United States don't necessarily translate well, or appeal to international audiences.

I'm contacting you as I am currently looking for translators who are willing to contribute to this project by helping translate and localize messages into different languages and suggesting messages that would appeal to your readers on the Fundraising Meta Page. We've started the setup on meta for both banner submission, statistical analysis, and grouping volunteers together.
Use the talk pages on meta, talk to your local communities, talk to others, talk to us, and add your feedback to the proposed messages as well! I look forward to working with you during this year's fundraiser. If someone could translate this message I would really appreciate it so that everyone is able to understand our goals and contribute to this year's campaign.

My adminship

Kia ora tātou. My apologies if this is the wrong place for this, but I'm not sure where else to put it. In the earlier days of this wiki (mostly 2004/2005-ish), I did a limited amount of simple backroom work with the wiki interface (all most likely supplanted by now). As a result, I was given administrator and bureaucrat status here by User:Robin Patterson. -- Vardion 04:50, 17 Ākuhata 2011 (UTC)[reply]
