The spark of inspiration keeps shining even when it rains. Torch Two of the ongoing “Journey of the Twin Torches” nationwide tour commemorating our 50th Anniversary travelled from Pengerang to Pasir Gudang, Johor recently to witness the launch of the Sungai Buluh River Rehabilitation Programme, a long-term environmental initiative by Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad (MHB). This three-year programme aims to improve the river’s health through ecological rehabilitation and environmental education among local communities, in hopes of ensuring sustainable development and enhancing quality of life. It is a joint effort with Majlis Bandaraya Pasir Gudang (MBPG) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), together with local communities within the Sungai Buluh vicinity. Over 300 participants attended the launch, including local authorities, communities, volunteers, and students from SMK Pasir Gudang 2, where they had the opportunity to learn more about river rehabilitation during a visit to MHB and UTM’s booth which showcased topics including Green Waste Vinegar, Microcomposite, I-naturalist, Geo-Trees, and Urban Farming. The “Journey of the Twin Torches” tour continues, paying homage to places and events across the country, demonstrating PETRONAS’ unwavering commitment to sustainability and creating a positive impact for the environment and communities, in continuing a legacy together for our future. #PETRONAS #PassionateAboutProgress #PETRONAS50 #SirihPulangKeGagang

Torch Two of the ongoing PETRONAS 50th Anniversary homecoming journey made a pit stop at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Johor recently during the PIC Badminton Championship, which took place in June. Organised by PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd (PRPC), the competition brought together a diverse group of stakeholders for a month-long series of matches. 4 out of 16 teams emerged victorious in the grand finale, attended by over 300 people, including teams from the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, the Royal Malaysia Police, and the Malaysian Immigration Department. We also had a special appearance by our national shuttlers, Wan Muhammad Arif Shaharuddin Wan Junaidi and Wong Ling Ching, who provided guidance during a badminton clinic session for Pengerang communities, and also toured the PIC. PETRONAS' partnership with the Badminton Association of Malaysia aims to elevate Malaysian badminton on the global stage through strategic nation-building initiatives. This unique collaboration, exemplified by the Badminton Championship in Pengerang, offers communities the opportunity to engage with national players. It also reflects our commitment to sportsmanship, teamwork and giving back to the communities we serve. Torch Two continues its journey across the country to honour individuals and locations that have contributed to PETRONAS' development and achievements over the past five decades. It will converge with Torch One in Kuala Lumpur during the PETRONAS 50th Anniversary celebration on 17 August. #PETRONAS #PassionateAboutProgress #PETRONAS50 #SirihPulangKeGagang

We can reach the summit together! PETRONAS’ 50th Anniversary Torch One relay in Sabah successfully made it to the summit of Mount Kinabalu recently. Through efforts by PETRONAS volunteers, 80 new mattresses, blankets, pillows and bedsheets, along with 10 new beds, were provided for the mountain guides (Malim Gunung) and porters of Mount Kinabalu, replacing their old bedding at the Panalaban base camp. This contribution is part of PETRONAS’ 50 Dreams project, aimed at fulfilling the dreams of everyday heroes. Families of the porters and guides were also celebrated with a day of fun activities and replenishment of school supplies for their children. PETRONAS also honoured the Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department’s sole Mountain Search and Rescue (MOSAR) unit by installing a solar energy system at their Gunting Lagadan Hut base camp. This installation, carried out by PETRONAS Floating LNG, significantly improves the base camp’s electricity needs by reducing its reliance on generators. Torch One is now on its way to Kimanis as part of “The Journey of the Twin Torches” tour, which pays homage to significant places and events across the country. It will eventually converge with Torch Two at the culmination of the homecoming journey in Kuala Lumpur during the PETRONAS 50th Anniversary celebration on 17 August. #PETRONAS #PassionateAboutProgress #PETRONAS50 #SirihPulangKeGagang #MountKinabalu
