With going to places they haven’t been to before the motivation for over half (51%)* of global travelers, we have delved into our traveler endorsement data to uncover alternative travel destinations that are worth discovering as they offer the same kind of vibe, experiences, and level of excitement, but with less crowds**. 
 

Lyon, France
 

Although Paris is usually the first place that comes to mind when visiting France, thanks to its iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, travelers will find a proportionate level of enjoyment by heading southeast to Lyon, which boasts similar spectacular attractions, coupled with picturesque streets perfect for taking city walks. This vibrant metropolis in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region will have visitors mesmerized by its breathtaking architecture as displayed in the Roman Amphitheatre des Trois Gaules and medieval designs at Vieux (Old Lyon).
