    Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting the Brest shipyard, where I met with both colleagues and clients. The visit was highly productive, offering a better understanding into the shipyard's operations and projects. Special thanks to Michael Li D. and Tommy Clark (TechIOSH) (AIIRSM) for their warm welcome and insightful discussions. Their expertise and hospitality made my visit valuable. I appreciate the time they dedicated to showing me around and sharing their knowledge. Meeting with our client was equally rewarding, providing essential feedback and strengthening our collaboration.     𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺: 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀   Since May 2021, Michael had been working on a project in Mangalia, Romania as a QHSE Coordinator, handling paperwork, meetings, and investigations. In March 2023, Tommy joined as an HSE Officer. During the interview, Michael was immediately impressed by Thomas's experience and down-to-earth mindset.   Their roles complemented each other well: Michael managed the administrative side, while Thomas ensured on-site safety. Being away from home, they quickly became friends, often dining together and sharing laughs. Michael's passion for fitness even got Thomas into the gym, leading to many humorous moments and stronger camaraderie.   By 2024, they completed the Mangalia project successfully and moved to a new project in Brest. Their teamwork remained strong, and they finished the Brest project by August. Their story highlights how professional partnerships can blossom into lasting friendships.   For now, Thomas is available for a new HSE project from September. We hope to collaborate with him again very soon. Thank you, Thomas, for all your effort and commitment.     Implementation of ISO 9001 at WEC Lines WEC Lines, a leading company in container transportation, decided to optimize its business processes by implementing the ISO 9001 quality management system (QMS). This initiative aimed to improve operations and achieve international recognition for their quality standards. Initiation and Planning  The project was initiated in collaboration with TOP Management Consultants. Boudewijn Baan and Mariëlle van den Hoek guided the project with their expertise in ISO 9001. The project began with extensive planning and analysis. A project team was assembled, consisting of managers from various departments. Training and Awareness  One of the first steps in the project was training all employees on the principles of ISO 9001 and the importance of quality management. Workshops and training sessions were organized to make staff aware of their role in the new QMS. This fostered a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the company. Impactive  The software tool developed by TOP was adopted by WEC. Lines. This interactive tool ensures the QMS is well-documented and maintained. Automatic workflows and notifications are generated, and various tasks can be created to directly record improvement measures. Additionally, the real-time dashboard provides immediate insight into organizational activities. The software tool ensures the manageability, ownership, traceability, and version control of processes and procedures. Development of Documentation & Implementation  Through a brown paper session, the primary process was mapped out. Managers charted the processes of their respective departments. KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) were established to measure the QMS's performance and identify areas needing further improvement. The project team ensured implementation across the departments. Internal Audit and Improvement Actions  A crucial part of the ISO 9001 implementation was the internal audit. Tanja from TOP Management Consultants conducted the internal audit, assessing the effectiveness of the QMS and identifying deviations and areas for improvement. Based on the findings, corrective and preventive measures were taken. This process helped WEC. Lines promote continuous improvement and ensure the QMS remained dynamic and effective. External Audit and Certification  Following a successful internal audit, an external audit was conducted by Normec. The external audit was passed without significant deviations, marking a milestone that highlighted the importance of continuous improvement to the organization. Results and Benefits  The implementation of ISO 9001 provided numerous benefits for WEC. Lines. There is more structure, and documented information is easily accessible in the software tool. Processes and procedures are clearly defined, providing clarity for everyone within WEC Lines. Customer satisfaction is measured. The TOP Impactive tool contributes to the continuous improvement process.
