Angelina Jolie Is 'Happy and Content with Her Life' as She Remains 'Focused on Her Kids and Work' (Source)

"She's very proud of her kids," a source close to the actress and mother of six tells PEOPLE

Angelina Jolie is having quite the year.

The Oscar-winning actress recently came off of an exciting night at the 2024 Tony Awards, where her new Broadway show The Outsiders nabbed best new musical, among other awards. The show is a family affair for Jolie, 49, who served as co-producer on the musical alongside her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne, who assisted on the production.

"Angie seems very happy and content with her life," a source close to Jolie tells PEOPLE. "She's focused on her kids and work. She's involved in projects that she truly cares and feels passionate about."

Adds the insider of Jolie (who also shares daughters Zahara, 19, and Shiloh, 18, plus sons Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Knox, 15, with ex Brad Pitt), "She's very proud of her kids."

Vivienne inspired her mom to take on a lead producer role for The Outsiders after they attended the musical's world premiere in California, as PEOPLE reported in August 2023.

"She'll correct me," Jolie later told PEOPLE of Vivienne's theater-producer aptitude, during the show's April premiere in New York City. "She'll say, 'Didn't you read the memo? We have to do this. We have to go through this.' "

"She's been a really tough assistant," the Girl, Interrupted actress added at the time of her daughter. "She takes it very, very seriously."

Jolie and Vivienne additionally stepped out together in Los Angeles on May 30, at the opening night of Reefer Madness: The Musical. The pair were pictured posing with Jolie's friend Kristen Bell, a producer of the new show, on the red carpet.

The Outsiders was up for a whopping 12 Tony Awards this past June 16, taking home three other trophies in addition to best new musical: best direction of a musical, best lighting design in a musical and best sound design in a musical.

Earlier that month, Jolie spent "a quiet day at home with her kids" as she celebrated turning 49, a source close to the actress told PEOPLE at the time.

"Zahara is home from college, and she looks forward to everyone spending the day together," the insider added.

Jolie last appeared on the big screen in Marvel Studios' superhero movie Eternals and Those Who Wished Me Dead, both released in 2021.

She next stars in the upcoming Maria Callas biopic Maria, directed by Pablo Larraín. The drama filmed in 2023 and is currently in post-production, though it does not yet have a release date.
