About this ebook

With a foreword by Diana Gabaldon.

Two men. One country. And a lot of whisky.

As stars of Outlander, Sam and Graham eat, sleep and breathe the Highlands on this epic road trip around their homeland. They discover that the real thing is even greater than fiction.

Clanlands is the story of their journey. Armed with their trusty campervan and a sturdy friendship, these two Scotsmen are on the adventure of a lifetime to explore the majesty of Scotland. A wild ride by boat, kayak, bicycle and motorbike, they travel from coast to loch and peak to valley and delve into Scotland's history and culture, from timeless poetry to bloody warfare.

With near-death experiences, many weeks in a confined space together, and a cast of unforgettable characters, Graham and Sam's friendship matures like a fine Scotch. They reflect on their acting careers in film and theatre, find a new awestruck respect for their native country and, as with any good road trip, they even find themselves.

Hold onto your kilts... this is Scotland as you've never seen it before.

First, if you like audiobooks, get the audio book and treat yourself to the, 'narration' of these two, and their endless impressions of each other and everyone else around, sometimes serious and informative, mostly hilarious. (I'll never see a rearview mirror cow ornament in the same way, ever again.) Look. Sure, this is a book for fans but who wouldn't become a fan of two multi-talented, manly men who for love of their homeland take on both, a broad reflection of their own lives and careers, and the success of the Outlander series from Starz, all while they engage in every seeming mode of transport and local cultural and sporting endeavour, in the exploration of their beloved Scotland. Gives a whole new meaning to Dickinson's "transport- by throe". Definitely, get the audiobook and you will put into practice what all the experts have to say about the health benefits of humour. See CBC Radio Ideas with Nahlah Ayed-Laughing Matters: The Science of Laughter, Nov. 4, 2021. I give this book 5 stars, because it delivered hours of joy and entertainment. Along with that ride, I learned about all that Scotland's complex history has in common with every history. It's multi-layered, multi-faceted, so often written by men who claimed the victories...and more than that, it is best experienced on the land where it played out. Go for it. Let Sam and Graham take you on this ride and enjoy.

Scotland is one of my favorite places on the planet. I was excited to explore the land through the voices of two native sons, Sam and Graham.
